In It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night when Shiela plays the uncalled drums, does he turn back to her and say 'that will be $200' or similar. He says something to her and the mic is still picking it up.
Love how he works them with a few false endings after the mistake [Edited 9/25/20 19:47pm]

i like the show and the sound quality. for me a recording like Lovesey / Dortmund would be better. i love to hear the audience. rather a little worse sound but more audience.

Nowhere on the streaming files does it say the date of the recording? Any ideas?! Was this also the show they part used in the SOTT film?

[Edited 9/26/20 1:51am] 20 June 1987 No it was about a week earlier than the Rotterdam shows that were partially (minimally) used in the film

20 June 1987, not used in the film.

They could of taken the crowd noise on Cocoa Boys and put it on the live show! LOL!

"When Doves Cry" sounds COMPLETELY different with a bassline....strange, even...much darker

Some flaws in the performance:
Housequake... is Levi playing the bassline out of time at the beginning?
Let's Go Crazy and 1999 arrangements don't sound very good.
The Cross would have been amazing... but someone hit the keyboard horn accidentally before it kicks in, lol. Love the particular delay effect on his vocal.
Wow, really like all the vamping and variations on "Forever in My Life", and "If I was Your Girlfriend" and "Hot Thing" sound great. And "It's Gonna Be a Beautful Night" is tight. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

. Who provides/sells/etc 24-bit versions of this release? . hdtracks does: https://www.hdtracks.com/...87a5ec0db6 . But it is all 44.1 KHz. No 96 KHz or more.

Better than I expected. I wish he didn't truncate some of the songs and I agree the crowd noise should've been qugmented but it's just a fantastic live performance and recording

Yeah, it struck me on first listen , i came here to see if anyone else had noticed. I guess it was Matt, my first thought was OMG Prince must have spanked him soooo hard for that one . TBH I don't mind these little performance issues on an archive release. Just like the "still in progress not completely on point" versions, they give us an interesting perspective on the shows. . I remember there's a 94 or so show (Stars and Bars maybe?) where the samples go completely wrong at the beginning of Days Of Wild, it's really funny and it's also interesting to see how Michael literally attacks the beat to make up for it: it gives this specific performance a very strong energy. The live show is a nice little bonus despite the average recording. It was never meant to be released commercially

maybe on vinyl its a different story, but have to say, this sounds a bit weedy on CD. might be my headphones, not sure (ive only been listening to it on headphones), but the sound is unremarkable. its like they didnt do much in the way of mixing. sometimes the drums are too prominent. its like they have just lifted it from a bootleg (could be wrong, ive not heard this show before). and IIWYG ends a bit strangely - after the song ends, it could have been faded out a bit slower. very peculiar. if you compare this to other live concerts released by other artists, this def does not sound like its up to par sonically. i thought prince recorded a lot of shows on his tours? youd think there would be a better one available, or this would just be better mixed. This is correct. I mean, great, but this is an official release, not a bootleg, so you expect more effort, and better sound. That's what I paid for. If i want a bootleg, I'll just dig up my old ones.

Which soundboards? Concerts, in this case. The only one is the Paris show from june 17. That's a soundboard. I dont think the Utrecht concert is a soundboard, but a multi-track. All the instruments can be heard crystal clear. I haven't got a clue if they have done anything to make it better, or whatever. My guess is not. What your hear, is the way how its been recorded. I do have many soundboards and multi-tracks from Elvis Presley, released in the 90's. Many of them varies in quality. Also the audience can be heard upfront, or just like the Utrecht concert from Prince. [Edited 9/29/20 10:50am]

i have heard some stunning and properly mastered multitracks and i am of the opinion that utrecht is decidedly not a multitrack
