Graffiti Bridge Deluxe would be bloody brilliant IF Nude tour were included?

Obviously as follows & surely to include the nude tour?

Remastered Album

Various Out Takes [some great trax from this era]

Movie DVD inc deleted scenes

Nude Tour - Live CD

Nude tour - behind the scenes documentary

The merch from this era was sooooo very cool too.

Thoughts?

i see them as two seperate things. it doesn't feel all that graffiti to me. graffiti bridge SDE has potential to be far and away the best set yet, but i don't trust howe and co. to get it right. takes nuance, takes a sophesticated palate and understanding.

GB Deluxe has serious potential to spark a major reassessment of the parent album and also shine a light on what Prince was trying to achieve in this era by, essentially, updating old songs with his ‘new power’ vibe whilst shifting and recalibrating his entire sound into a new decade. Would like to hear the re-worked ‘Rearrange’, which I thought was the standout track on 1999 Deluxe. A GB Deluxe would be worth it alone for the orchestral version of Question Of U.

i would buy it just for the sott crystal ball outtakes they still haven't put out on anything .. the movie really isn't that bad until the ending .. they could fix that too .. maybe include the madonna audition .. i am sure there is a video somewhere

Just deepfake Madonna’s head onto Ingrid and end the movie with P blowing his brains out as he contemplates suicide on the graffiti bridge and we have a movie. 30 minutes, done. No tick tick bang or Mavis caught laughing when Aura inexplicably gets knocked down. Fade to black, no end music.

The corny hangman scene, and the great "Can't Stop" opening number should be included! They won't, but they're great.

Also, "The Latest Fashion" video.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Why so dark? Sure you’re not from the DC Universe?

I couldn’t sit through that borefest the whole way straight through even if someone paid me.
Honestly I don’t even think I finished it, probably fell asleep to it

The music tho is great and i’d love a deluxe set for Graffiti Bridge

Graffiti Bridge is one of my all-time favorite Prince albums and it sounds shitty in ways that no remastering will ever improve. It needs to be remixed from the ground up. It sounds like a wet digital blanket has been thrown over the speakers no matter what system it’s played on. I’d be happy is they spent the SDE budget on remixing it and making it worth a listen from a sound quality perspective. The songs are great.

When you get the reaction shot from the perspective of Aura’s body and they’re all crowded round her, Mavis is looking down then her hand shoots up really quickly to cover her mouth and her eyes crinkle - it’s quite clear she got the giggles and P either didn’t notice in the editing suite or just kept it in because it would mean filming it again. Or maybe it’s just a false memory cus it’s been years since I watched GB, but I’m pretty sure. I remember some pals and I laughing out arses off at it. Kinda sums up that movie. It was a comedy, right?

I saw it once first run with friends... and then again as a dollar movie... oh the comments at the dollar movie from the audience, that was funny!

The Nude tour feels a bit disconnected in relationele to GB with regulary only one song.
Not sure it fits there besides the dates.

that Saïd, a release of tours and background info would be nice

IF it happens, I so look forward to a GB SDE...especially if (and this is no diss to The Time, Tevin Campbell and Mavis Staples) if the solo Prince tracks are compiled on a seperate cd. If that had been the original plan, I think that would have been my favourite Prince album. That album probably has the highest concentration of songs I love the most in the entire Prince catalogue including my favourite Prince song - The Question of U.

Please edit the rap out of the future lol.

I'd be happy just with outtakes from that era.
It's more of an 80s mop up album. Those songs from earlier that went nowhere else. The 90s didnt really start for prince until 91.

That film should def NOTbe included.

Pellwormer

Hmmm....I saw the nude tour...as a middle-thing....more Batman-related....but too late for a Batman-tour...

and I wittnessed it in Hamburg....it was our birthday gift for a friend of ours, Daniel...who is also a Pre-Pellwormer (german island in the north-sea)...and Daniels birthday was on 7. June...and..so we all were on this concert on that day smile

Hey...all the peolpe were singing "Happy birthday" ....cool, erm ? wink

The Nude Tour barely references Graffiti Bridge. It seems to have had more Batman references between the two, and even that feels minimal.

Prince clearly saw the massive and embarrassing failure of GB at theaters, which likely hurt album sales despite "Jerk Out" from The Time being a hit, "Thieves In The Temple" getting good rotation, and even Tevin's song getting a little urban radio play. I remember being surprised that The Nude Tour was billed as "just the hits, stripped down" or whatever. The name felt weird, the disassociation from GB was glaring. The fact that he opened the tour with "The Future" rather than "Can't Stop" seemed kinda suspect, too. Also TC Ellis had a spot in the film, yet Tony M. was upfront on the tour. That felt like a worse to worse shift, too. It was just a shitty period commercially.

So I agree, they are very disconnected, and two different things. Including one with the other would feel more like a compilation than a proper set.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

They don't own the rights to the concert film.

Shockedelicus

If it includes the rough versions, it'll really shine a light on how good it could've been. GB was the result of years of needless tinkering with good ideas. Too many layers, too many bells and whistles.

The tour came months before the album and film. I'd see it fitting more with a Batman SDE (not sure that will ever come though).

I do remember they played the video for Thieves in the Temple remix before the show I attended. That was the first time I'd heard the song and I was excited to hear more like it.
