New batch of shitty bootlegs

NO TROLL THREADS! NO SOLICITING FOR BOOTLEGS! Discussion is fine, so long as the bootleg is not being promoted e.g. pre-release; requests/offers to share or copy, and links to download or bootleg sites are not. Posting Prince and associated artist videos from sites such as YouTube is also not allowed. Posts of this nature will be deleted and repeat offenders will be first warned, and then banned. Troll threads, fake tracklists, and attention seeking rumor threads will be also be swiftly dealt with. These rules are strictly enforced!

.

A new batch of really shitty boots have popped online, all stuff that we already have and some fakes.

.

There's a couple of old Parade shows and one completely inconsistent collection of already circulating outtakes titled All My Dreams, so far nothing special.

.

Then comes the ultimate WTF moment: one boot, titled New Power Gold is a mix of NPS, Gold Nigga and Exodus tracks with 2gether thrown in the mix for good measure, all officially released material!! Another, titled Art Unoffical Age, is a mess made of officially released 2013-2015 tracks and what appears to be a batch of fucked-up fanmade mixes of tracks from that same era, credited to 2 assholes called Alpha1999 and Ritty. IDK who's reponsible for these 2 boots -not to mention the fanmade mixes- but they deserve to be deported to North Korea.

.

Not sure what this is for, whether they were pressed on CD (I fail to see what idiot would buy these), or if it was an attempt to hijack streaming services as we've seen in the past, it just seems completely pointless. Not that anyone here would want to hear these pieces of junk, but please do not bother orgnoting me for links, I won't reply. This was just FYI.

.

Here's the tracklists of the worst 2, just for fun:

.

Unofficial Age
01 – Art Official Cage (Edit) 02 – Clouds (Ritty’s Edit) 03 – This Could Be Us (Alpha1999’s Xtended Version) 04 – 1000 Light-Years Away 05 – Affirmation 06 – Way Back Home (Alpha1999’s Affirmation Mix) 07 – Funknroll (Remix) 08 – Breakfast Can Wait (Alpha1999’s 5ive A Day Mix) 09 – Ain’t Gonna Miss U When U’re Gone (Alpha1999’s Edit) 10 – Screwdriver (Alpha1999’s Xtended Mix) 11 – Rock And Roll Love Affair (Alpha1999’s Jamie Lewis Strip Club Mix) 12 – Angels Ain’t About 2 Stop (Alpha1999’s Mashup) 13 – Hardrocklover (Alpha1999’s Edit) 14 – 1000 X’s & O’s (Full Mix) 15 – If Eye Could Get Ur Attention16 – Time (Ritty’s Edit) 17 – Wild Tonight (Alpha1999’s Edit) 18 – Fixurlifeup (Remix) 19 – Affirmation 20 – Groovy Potential 21 – Ain’t Gonna Miss U When U’re Gone 22 – U Know 23 – Breakfast Can Wait 24 – The Breakdown 25 – Rock And Roll Love Affair 26 – Funknroll 27 – Time 28 – That Girl Thang (Demo)

.

New Power Gold
01 – The Exodus Has Begun 02 – Goldnigga (Pt. 1) 03 – Newpower Soul 04 – Get Wild 05 – MadSex 06 – Guess Who’s Knocking 07 – Oilcan 08 – Push It Up 09 – Deuce And A Quarter 10 – Come On 11 – Count The Days 12 – Goldnigga (Pt. 2) 13 – Black M.F. Hi Databank.

I just wanted to jump in and defend one of the titles you mentioned. The bootleg titled 'All My Dreams' is actually a collection of outtakes released by PMA under the name 'Demos and Outtakes'. Although the songs are inconsistent as far as the time they were recorded go, the sound quality is amazing! I don't know if some of these songs are newly sourced or whether somebody did an amazing job cleaning up what was already circulating, but a lot of these songs sound really clear now.

When I got this collection I was thrilled by the sound quality of 'Strange Way'.

Ah, interesting thx. Not sure what u mean by "released by PMA under the name 'Demos and Outtakes'", are u refering to one of the collections of files that popped up about 2 years back, or an actual bootleg? Either way this is nothing new but maybe useful for those who missed them the first time. I'll check it out to see if I already have the files or not.

The "Gold" and AOA things, though, are unexcusable mad

Totally unrelated but there was a circulating live soundboard of Peach from the 6/27/94 Glam Slam show. I only bring it up because the whole show must be in the hands of someone, its rare that only one live track would surface & not the whole gig. I was at this show so its of special interest to me.

Hi Databank.

Yes, I think it was just a collection of files. I don't think PMA make physical releases. I still refer to them as bootlegs, even if they are digital only. Maybe I'm using the wrong terminology.

The full titles are...
Demos and Outtakes Vol. 1 (PMA DaO 001)
Demos and Outtakes Vol. 2 (PMA DoA 002)

The copy I have is dated 2019, not quite 2 years yet, but near enough. Were probably referring to the same collections.

Some of those have been around for a while.

The boot All My Dreams was released this year as a 2 cd set (PGA068CD1/2) by PGA (Purple Gold Archives). It's full title is "All My Dreams - Demos and outtakes compilation - collectors edition.

There seems to be a label calling themselves PMA too (Purple Mushroom Audio). No idea if they are affiliated with PGA or not.

Formerly TheDigitalGardener etc.

It's funny that you're posting this right now. I just deleted those files from my drive a few days ago, after deciding that they were not worth archiving. biggrin

It looks like New Power Gold is PGA069CD1/2. And PGA070CD1/2 also consists of already released material, configurations of the "High" and "Peace" projects.

The AOA release sounds god-awful, but some of the others (including the PMA stuff) are listenable -- essentially well-sequenced-and-equalized fan mixes, drawing from a fairly deep well -- if not very interesting to collectors.

That’s my probably favourite live version of Peach.
Yes, looking at the set list that would be a great show to have in soundboard.

It was amazing, it was the encore & he came out wearing jeans with holes in the pant legs. Would love to have the whole show in this quality.

Can there possibly by any bootlegs left to make? WHo doesn't already have everything by now? From Crystal Ball up to Originals, officials releases have bitten into the black market with material that most true Prince collectors already had for years in various levels of quality. All this along with the deluge of material on open public forums like YouTube and Dailymotion, who is producing or collecting low quality boots anymore?

There's a lot of stuff out there, for sure. There's still plenty of stuff in the possession of the 'elite' collectors.

Everybody's gotta try their hand at tweaking or 'remastering' existing boots, so I'm sure there'll be plenty more to come. confused

A lot of songs from the early 80s sound clean, fresh even today. 1999 deluxe delivers that quality, but impressed by some of the boots too. I guess it helps to limit the tracks recorded on the tape. But also, the song is amazing... sounds like ska to me, like the best ska song I've ever heard.

The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!

If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days...
