Twinsthenewtrend?

A Guardian article mentions a review by the Twinsthenewtrend brothers on Youtube of Prince's Hall of Fame performance but it doesn't appear in their channel. Were they asked to take it down? These brothers are getting a lot of traffic and attention today but maybe the estate wouldn't allow it? Anyone know?

The Prince community raved about this performance at the time. Finally, several years later, the rest of the world is starting to catch up!

Honest question here, what's the purpose of these videos of people overreacting and filming themselves??
This is like these people who dress up and then pose to take a 'sad selfie' becuase they pretend to be sad about something and everybody must know they are sad.

I find this genre of "See black people blown away by white music" videos somewhat offensive. Yeah they are in on the joke and some of them seem doing it earnest but their popularity turns me off.

Not as simple as just "black + white". They didn't even know songs by OutKast, 2Pac or Snoop...& Also didn't know Ice Cube is a rapper. It speaks to whatever generational gap there is in music more than anything. Something definitely changed with Social Media & streaming. Nobody can deny that. But if "reaction videos" are one of the only ways to connect classic music to the current generation, then I don't see a problem with it other than how crazy it looks. Young folks used to learn & experience older music from their parents...but this is a whole new era. In Prince's famous words: "In this life... You're on your own!"

And I'll also say that they reacted to Funkadelic's "(Not Just)Knee Deep" & they loved it. Almost had the same reaction to it that I had when I first heard it in the early 90s as a kid. So, they're cool in my book. Everybody experiences music in different ways. Just as long as they do is the important thing.

I notice, relatively speaking, that there aren’t as many reaction videos to Prince songs; save the odd Purple Rain/ 1999. This might be telling us something...these videos are very much part of a time. Maybe, just maybe, they won’t live on like a lot of the other classics from Bowie, Queen, Beatles, Eagles etc. We can already see it happening now, in real time.
