On LL Cool J's song "Rock the Bells", he made disses on Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Bruce Springsteen.

He mentioned Prince only once in the song, but at another point he said something that while not DIRECTLY said 2 be about Prince, I think it's pretty obvious:

"...SO ALL U JHERRI CURL SUCKERS WEARING HIGH HEELED BOOTS,
LIKE BALLERINA'S, WHAT I MEAN IS YOUR 'THE FRUIT LOOP TROOP'..."

How serious can one take the most wannabe and wack-ass rappers in the biz??
He's even worse than Tony M. or, dare I say it, Will Smith...

WT*? I know you're not referring to L.L. If you are, what have you've been smoking?.

This is sorta off topic, but did Run-DmC ever have a 'public' problem with Prince?

I don't remember that one (real effective dis song, I'm sure whomever recorded it must be proud!), but does anyone remember the dis song by...was it Zapp?...with the cartoon video featuring an EXTREMELY Prince-esque character? I think it was released sometime in the late '80s, maybe around '87 or '88? I have no recollection of the song title or the lyrics (not even sure it was Zapp), but the song was about arrogant celebrities, and the video made it really clear who it was about...

Actually, that video was by the Gap Band and the video/song was called "DISRESPECT". I always thought that video was a dig at Prince. The cartoon character had on a Purple Rain era out fit, (very "the Beautiful Ones"-esque),in all black 2 symbolize him as very evil,high-heeled boots, the hair style, and two giant body guards. Fans would come up 2 him 4 an autograph, and he would knock it out their hands, the body guards were beating people up and shit. But by the end of the video, after his music turned on him (little music note with sharp teeth chased after him), and he went 2 court, he was very friendly towards his fans, and even had on an all white outfit! This video was out around the time of the whole "We Are the World"/"Around the World in a Day" backlash Prince was receiving. But neither Prince nor the Gap Band has ever confirmed if the video was about him. I have it on tape BTW.

I remember that video and that song! The Gap Band would probably deny it,but that video was directed at Prince. The song's chorus goes..."You had your chance, chance to dance...that's Disrepsect,we don't like that".They were referring to Prince not particpating on "We Are The World".The video featured a cartoon Prince and his huge bodyguard behaving very "stuck up" and arrogant (like many people perceived Prince to be,around this time). At the end of the video,Prince changes into a nice person who treats his fans with respect. This video and song came out in 1985,when there was a slight backlash against Prince.

What is so funny?...

MANY will say he's one of the best among maintream rap artists, and I don't even need to elaborate any further on that. If you happen to dislike him, which I can tell by your 'LOL' and the way your expressing yourself, well that's your opinion, but it won't justify him being classified as a mediocre rapper. He got flow and style you don't happen to recognize, and if you can't admit to that, that even those who say he has a cocky as* attitude that turns them off will admit to...then oh well, that's lost case for you. Time to move on...
