Anyone remember old "Diss" song about prince?

There was a rap group in the late 80's who came up with a parody song I think was called "Diss." They sampled parts of "Kiss," but it was different sounding. The called him a "purple faggot" (sorry) and mentioned having sex with his mom. The punch line to that part of the song was ". . . ask your father he sat and watched." I always wondered the real name of the song and the name of the group.

Anyone remember this song or have any info about it? I know it's a negative topic, but I always wanted to know who these losers were.

I don't remember that one (real effective dis song, I'm sure whomever recorded it must be proud!), but does anyone remember the dis song by...was it Zapp?...with the cartoon video featuring an EXTREMELY Prince-esque character? I think it was released sometime in the late '80s, maybe around '87 or '88? I have no recollection of the song title or the lyrics (not even sure it was Zapp), but the song was about arrogant celebrities, and the video made it really clear who it was about...

You know what? I remember some sort of video with people dressed up like celebrities: one was Michael Jackson, one was cyndy lauper, one was Prince...Oh, I think it was that David Lee Roth video maybe?

Nah, I know the David Lee Roth video you're talking about, and I don't think there was a Prince impersonator in it...you might be thinking of "Wild Wild Life" by Talking Heads, where they were dressed up like Prince and Apollonia.

But there is a Prince impersonator in the Ice Cube video when he says he bought a house next to Prince so now I can kick it. I had never seen the videeo until recently on his DVD Ice Cube Video Hits Volume 1

Actually, that video was by the Gap Band and the video/song was called "DISRESPECT". I always thought that video was a dig at Prince. The cartoon character had on a Purple Rain era out fit, (very "the Beautiful Ones"-esque),in all black 2 symbolize him as very evil,high-heeled boots, the hair style, and two giant body guards. Fans would come up 2 him 4 an autograph, and he would knock it out their hands, the body guards were beating people up and shit. But by the end of the video, after his music turned on him (little music note with sharp teeth chased after him), and he went 2 court, he was very friendly towards his fans, and even had on an all white outfit! This video was out around the time of the whole "We Are the World"/"Around the World in a Day" backlash Prince was receiving. But neither Prince nor the Gap Band has ever confirmed if the video was about him. I have it on tape BTW.

On LL Cool J's song "Rock the Bells", he made disses on Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Bruce Springsteen.

He mentioned Prince only once in the song, but at another point he said something that while not DIRECTLY said 2 be about Prince, I think it's pretty obvious:

"...SO ALL U JHERRI CURL SUCKERS WEARING HIGH HEELED BOOTS,
LIKE BALLERINA'S, WHAT I MEAN IS YOUR 'THE FRUIT LOOP TROOP'..."

Hmmm,, I know that rhyme too, and I neeever thought it was about Prince. It doesn't even sound like Prince to me. I think Rick James had more of a Jheri curl, man.

By the way, I don't know anything about the "Diss" song this thread was started for.

Yeah, that was the one. I remember the video pissed me off, but still I couldn't deny that it was cool animation, heh.

That rap group you´re talking about was UTFO from Brooklyn.
They were cool back then except for that Diss track...I didn´t like that one. I guess it was on their second album in 1986 or so, UTFO consisted of three members..Dr.Ice, Kangol Kid, and the Educated Rapper...and I guess the DJ´s
name was Mixmaster Ice...so actually four people .
They were kinda part of that FullForce/LisaLisa&Cult Jam and
Real Roxanne camp. I used to be totally into that stuff as well in the eighties. UTFO´s DJ was really kind of a hot DJ
back then. It was something like a Brooklyn thing.
As far as I recall they were also down with Whodini. Kangol Kid , like Slick Rick , mentions in one of his rhymes that he was born England.
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

UTFO were dope! From the legendary "Roxanne Roxanne" they brought us classics like "Split Personality", "Beats And Rhymes", "We Work Hard" and "Ya Cold Wanna Be Wit Me".

I love those old school rappers (now remembering "Fast Life" by Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde and "Cosmic Blast" by Captain Rock)

yeah, lol, wasn't L.L. Cool J. in there too? That kinda confuses me, I mean if they thought that about Prince, imagine what they thought about Sheila, a Prince protege.

Yeah...I thought Mix-A-Lot was a Prince fan???

I think the song is just a diss on 'girly men' in general.

The song was a b-side to 'Baby Got Back' as I recall.

Thank you eldog98. I can now sleep soundly. I just downloaded the song. It's the song I remember, but after listening to it more closely 15 years later, I don't even think its about Prince specifically.

I was wrong, but what a great way to start a post about Prince diss-songs!?!
