I sent an e-mail to the Estate site and they said it wasn't under their control so I sent a message to the Warner Music site and haven't heard anything back yet. That was 2 days ago.

Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

Just came here to ask that question myself! Kinda pointless to offer a download code if the site is unavailable.

Just got mine today #385. My only gripe is that the cards were at the very top so they slid around during a lot during mailing and the edges got dinged a bit. But other than that...amazing! I wonder if an orger was 1 or 1987 biggrin

Why is "The Cross/Adore" included in the set, despite an South African-only single? And I suppose the edit of Adore from the actual promo 7" is a cheap early-fade of the album version, when this release includes the edit from The Hits 1...

The inclusion of Hot Thing (Remix Edit) three times, one in its original homeplace and two to represent the US radio promo 45 is even more confusing...

Honestly I think this set is just a quick cashgrab and just to offer something special for collectors and nothing more.

It's a pretty poorly put together set.
Basically just there to help collectors make some extra cash on Ebay lol and generate some funds for the estate.

I'd personally have done peach heart shaped discs.
I'd have made it just the album but spread over the singles.
And I'd have gotten rid of those designs that weren't the actual singles as they just look like fan designs.
Would have been better just to have plainer sleeves with lyrics like the inner sleeves on the vinyl album.

They should release Cosmic Day on 7" (with the Clare Fischer orchestrated version on the bside)

give us something else to put in the box smile

And that's fine with me. Besides my torn-in-half Prince concert tickets, this is really the only other collectable of his I own. (I also have a Japanese import LaserDisc of Sign 'O the Times, but I digress...)

Mine (UK) arrived this morning. Number 1048.

Came through the normal post so I think I've managed to escape the customs charges.

Nice set. Happy with it. Digital downloads still not working though.

Just got mine (#1140), so thought I would add some notes …

  • The box is not square (looking at it top down. H and V dimensions are different.
  • The 7" sleeves are not square either. mine are about 180 x183mm. All my other 7"s are vintage 80s ones, and a quick scan reveals that they vary in size but do tend to be squarer (ranging from 180 to 182mm). Unsure if non-square 7" sleeves are the normal these days
  • Anyway, all that might seem a bit pointless BUT …The records only fit in the box in ONE direction, you can't spin them 90 degrees AND, the orientation of the BOX FRONT is NOT the same as the orientation of the SLEEVE FRONT. so … you open the box with the top at the top and you find that your records are rotated 90 degrees … Odd …
  • Others are speaking of getting one postcard. I guess I lucked out, as I have the whole set of 6, plus the download code.
  • 7" sleeves are printed on matt card stock, whereas I think most of the 1987 releases where glossy, and on thinner stock. They generally look good, but the switch to matt does dull the colours a little. I don't have any of the originals to hand to compare. Print quality generally good, and at first I suspected that they had access to the orginal artwork files, rather than just scanning 1987 editions. But then I did some digging and looked at 1987 edition of U Got the Look in online pics. It becomes clear that the new boxset contains some rebuilding of the artwork, at least for UGTL but probably for all. Evidence presented below, but some of the text on the back does not line up quite as in the orginal and – shame on the designer - the kerning settings are not the same (see the word 'Face' – they clearly know FA about typography!). By reconstructing it, it does mean the text reproduction is very crisp. Unsure excatly how the production porcess might have worked in 1987 (analog v digital), but typesetting could have been digital and some files could have been saved. I think it's unlikley, and that this is a complete rebuild. not convinced thet teh font is exactly right, and certainly eithe rits metric or it's setting is not the same.
  • The postcards are very glossy, blank on the back, and a bit knocked on their corners in transit.
  • The download card is matt, printed both sides.
  • Record are that mottled, almost tie-dye effect you often see on colored vinyl. I would have prefered a nice solid peach, this looks dirty to me.

Overall very happy, but notes and oddities always interesting to me!

thumbnail?id=1mS2ES-jLyZDrC7aPOrzKd6527AWOAWZ9

ABOVE = 1987

thumbnail?id=11p1PcAFmkO2ghnkV3w-cVT8mMh9ci8vD

ABOVE = 2021. Some slight differences in typeface, and a HORRIBLE job of kerning the 'Fa'. Note, these are from the exact same spot on the sleeve, but pixelation of my source for the old one (plus different printing settings) make it hard to be sure the font is wrong.

thumbnail?id=1sdFmIJiOUOegp-pFpVJwCrnZ00xQKyN5

Full set of cards. Very glossy.

Yeah, I got six. Just lucky maybe? You can imagine this work is done by a grop of people walking round a table for 4 hours mindlessly piling stuff in … mistakes will happen.

Or perhaps at some point during the boxing up they reliased they had more than they expected and started being generous with them? I guess the numbers might help extablish a pattern.

Mine is #1140

As expected, Ebay has numerous auctions of this set with crazy prices that people are actually bidding on.

Might as well lol lol

Reminds me of a while back where someone made an app called "Im Rich" app in the ios app store that did absolutely nothing and sold for 10k. I think 2-3 people bought it.

This is the only issue I have with the set. It really bugged me at first. I have a feeling the box makers printed the art the wrong way and once they caught it they said "fuck it, we ain't reprinting this!" As you were saying, there really is no definitive 7" sleeve size. I've bought new 7" records with varying sleeve dimensions. Even my vintage ones differ, with the UK sleeves being quite a bit larger and a heavier stock.
