Mine is supposed to arrive on Monday and I seriously can't wait. I haven't been this excited for a Prince release since it was orignially released. Still trying to figure out how to explain this purchase to the hubby when we don't own a turntable.

If you're willing to spend that much on the singles then might as well get a turntable. There are many you can get at that price.

This was a total impulse buy for me...I spazzed a bit when I saw it for sale and snatched it up. But do plan on getting a turntable as I own a bunch of vinyl. My old one broke a few years ago and this gives me a reason to buy a new one!

I can see that happening. I'm a big believer in free market, but I also think the estate should have limited it to one set per customer.

After comparing the 2 files on Adobe Audition, that is the Hits version and the 45 version, the only difference is they cut more of the cheering off the beginning on the 45, however, you can still hear it.

Personally I would definitely have preferred a 12" set, I don't play 7" that often.
Was also a bit disappointed to see they are "big hole" 7 inch singles - how many of us are putting these into a jukebox player? Pretty much none right.

I have to say, some of the recent Prince vinyl releases have been disappointing (ONA especially). I really hope SOTT is better.

All I really want from future Prince records is that they actually work as recorded pieces of music and sound acceptable. Can we get away from this era of idiots buying souvenir vinyl they'll never play or use, and get back to (preferably black) vinyl and pressings that human beings have verified aren't totally screwed? Sorry, rant over.

Thank you for the info. I always wonder why they were so lazy when doing this. It's easy to edit the info. I manage to do this with just my Nero software. The Hits & B-sides, Girl 6 soundtrack and now this.

Presumably you own all of this music, so you're not buying it just to hear the music. You're buying it because it's a collectable. Just like everyone else. You hope they appreciate in value at some point.

I bought as many as I could. They're on ebay now, paying for themselves and then some.

Regarding flipping, I know I just wouldn't feel right buying multiple only to sell them whereas the Prince fans looking on Ebay could have gotten the releases at normal price through the normal on sale if people didn't buy in bulk.

I actually don't care if mine appreciates in value or not. I didn't buy it to resell it. Like you said, it's a collectable. And now I've collected it. Re: buying in bulk, we just have a difference of opinion. I would like as many Prince fans to have had a chance to get it at retail as possible. It's actually a normal practice to limit purchaces on collectables--for obvious reasons. The Prince Estate decided not to.

And to the person who calls some of us idiots for buying it even though we may never play them, the Estate made this a collectable by limiting it to 1,987 *hand-numbered*, peach colored vinyl with postcards. If they had made available a gazillion sets on black vinyl with nothing special about it, then I wouldn't have bought one. See the difference?

UK / Austrailian 45s have the small hole:

U.S. 45s have the large hole for Jukeboxes:

Nothing major; I was just hoping that they had the small hole variant.

Goofballs buying copies to flip them ruin the party every time. The artists don't like it, the fans don't like it, the people buying the shit at inflated prices don't like it. But fuck everyone else's drag, right.
