As much as I drool over the man now I have to admit I didn't really start trippin off him until late in the game (the Violet the Organ Grinder video turned me the fuck OUT). I was always aware that he was cute, but I didn't actually see him until I was already interested in the music. I heard Soft & Wet & IWBYL on the radio as a 7 year old. I don't know when I finally laid eyes on the man via videos or album covers (I'm guessing around Controversy time), but I was already digging his sound.

Like someone said above, his good looks are just a nice, NICE, NIIICE bonus on top of an incredible talent. If it were only looks that mattered, people would still be trippin off the likes of Christopher Williams & shit (decent voice, weak songs, gotta go). Don't boil down to simply looks. That would imply that female fans can't think past the throbs in our panties & Lord knows we do that all the time, lol...

twocents

Alright, so you too like him first and foremost because of the music, BUT... also because of his "good looks". Altho' in second place, it does seem to play an important part in why you "drool" over him so much. So... if I ask you the question...: what if Prince looked like Marilyn Manson, but made the same Prince music... would you still drool over him???

You're creating a brand new question, lol. Obviously I wouldn't drool over the man if he was ugly, but that ain't the Q. The initial thread makes it seem like females like Prince for his looks... PERIOD. And that's far from the truth. As for me, I like him first & foremost for his music. The fact that he's delicious is a wonderful plus. I mean damn, if a thread is started about his ass, am I supposed to bring up the ICNTTPOYM solo or something?? LOL, I can drool all day but my ears still work... wink

I'm being really clear here, yet you don't seem to understand me. Whattup wit dat?? confused smile
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

So because I like Prince, the man...the person, not the sex-object and because
I love his art, his passion for his art and his delivery, then I am here, waiting for his next move.
I also like the way he is not afraid to be himself, and not afraid to let us "see" who he is.

I would have thought that you are not the woman to fall for Prince the "sexobject". Still... you do give importance to his personality. Which leads me to wonder how you can find a man interesting or adorable when you don't really personally know him. Is it because his lyrics perhabs show how he truly is?

Also, you mention his passion for his art and him not being afraid to be himself, and not afraid to let us "see" who he is. I wonder if the latter is really true...

I see his personality in his expressions. He is not faking when he shows
sooo much emotion when performing his art..
He is not faking when he gets into the music of
other artists as he did at the celly.
Plus I have heard so much positivity in his music; so much spirituality...always.
Now I have never "heard" all of his music.
If the title says it's too hot...I don't listen.
I have "the ladder" from long ago to tell me he is a man of substance.
I have "and God Created Woman"..."The Greatest Romance" which shows his
love and appreciation for women involve much more than just lust.
I watch and I listen and I feel. nod

Interesting answer. I notice that you do fall for his act and performance, which is "not fake" according to you. But do most other artists fake it then? ...

And I think the lyrics of "the Greatest romance" seems to imply some sexuality ... Perhabs it would be inetresting for you to hear how his songwriting in this respect changed during the 80's and later during the 90's. For example the song "Temptation" already deals with his beliefs that he is a sinner for having such a "libido". God plays a part in it as well...or so it seems...
[This message was edited Fri Apr 25 16:42:12 PDT 2003 by huggy]

I hope you did not think that I am void of sexuality.

Definitly not! smile

When God created woman...there was a reason she was made differently from Adam. nod

tell me please wink

And I agree, his music, as far as I can see, has a long history of spirituality.

Absolutely, evne when he was the most nasty he could get. nod

Which inspires me to edit my first post...

I edited my first post to mention something which I did not mention before...: Prince has also written many "spiritual" songs. Albeit not so many in the beginning, later more. While the appeal of those songs would be mainly for the lyrical content, many of those seem to be held as his best musically as well... Yet I haven't seen any female, nor male, on this thread say that they like Prince because of his spiritual songs

I would drool over his physical being, but the opportunities to drool would be less & less, i.e. if the music is suckin wind who's gonna be talking about him or looking at him? He'd be out of site, out of mind. The main draw (the music) wouldn't be there & I'd fade away from him (ala Christopher Williams) smile

I am not sure if I understand what you are saying here... but do you mean that if he wouldn't be wideley appreciated anymore for his musical skils his sexappeal would drastically decline? Does that mean that you are sexually drawn to men who are succesfull? If so, do you think Prince can still be seen as succesfull?

If you're gonna pick apart everything I say, @ least read what I say closely man! lol I clearly said "the opportunities to drool" - meaning the act of drooling would still happen (why drool if the appeal declines???) it would simply occur less frequently b/c his image/presence wouldn't be a constant in my life. No, that ain't what that means & I'm not more sexually drawn to successful men. I love amateur analysis based on a paragraph misread by the reader/"analyst" neutral

Uhh, yea... neutral He's not conquering the world anymore but he's still successful - are you saying he's not? neutral

Did you read my first post? I am well aware of the reasons why women are "atracted" (to use your words) to Prince. And yes, I am also aware that women usually need more in a man than just physical features. That doesn't mean however that this is all the same with all women, because there are also women who fall first and foremost for the good looks. Everybody is different. And it doesn't mean that men only fall for looks either.

There are however differences between men and women in why they are attracted to Prince, the musician and his music, which is what this thread is about. Most women here have stated that next to just the music, also his performance, his appeal, his mystique, his looks etc. play an important part ...

There is no judging that going on here.

Interested and not caring at the moment, or who knows maybe for good, are two DIFFERENT things, and that's logic, just as it's 'logical' that the physical features of a person has nothing to do with the spiritual.

At this point right now, he could've been an elephant singing, and I would only care for the MUSIC, OKAY!!!

So accept the responses people give you, and take into account that many people feel the same way, and don't force the issue. It's only our opinion and our first response, so have fun with your thread.
