The Ads for "Most Beautiful Girl" in National Enquirer and Billboard

Lately I've been on a hunt to find the "ads" for "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World."

If I remember correctly, one was in Billboard and had a quote from Quincy Jones discussing the debut single of prince.

The one before that was made to look like a personal's ad and said "Eligible Bachelor seeks Most Beautiful Girl in the World.'

??

I am remembering a quote from Sheena Easton about the song. Something about the song making her want to go out and buy a new convertible. I wasn’t sure if that was in one of those ads or not.

Did the ad appear in more than just one publication?

And did anything come out of the submissions from his "personal's ad?"

I remember seeing the ads in "People" and "E!" magazines. A few girls I knew sent photos in (and didn't receive any responses)....I always wondered if the women in the video (besides Nona and the older schoolteacher) were contest winners or actors..(?)

Exactly. I'd be curious if any of the women that submitted were in the video?

I believe that the women that you don't recognize in the video were ones that sent in photos/videos of themselves.

I sat through that Miss USA Pageant just to hear like 30 seconds of the song. I remember thinking, what won’t I do to hear new Prince music? Lol.

Indeed, why isn't there a decision in that copyright case yet? Do Italian courts function via pony express or something? Strange.

A certain kind of mellow.

Thanks Bart. Interesting there's nothing on Prince Vault about the plagiarism issues surrounding the song.

Beacause it wasn't plagiarised. Lawsuit from some talentless money-grubbers with lawyers. I have listened to their song and I just do not HEAR it. Maybe I need to get my hearing checked, naw I am fine.

Of course parts of it are the same melody, it's pretty clear.

I think the question is more, could Prince have known about this other song?

I once listened to that song, my girlfriend (no fan) came in and said "This sounds like The Most Beautiful Girl In The World".

Whether it was plagarised or not (I don't think so) it is an interesting and important part of the history of the song, just surprised that the Vault didn't include it.

Yes, me too exactly the same scene!
She didn't let me think about was it plagiarized or not, she came in the first time I heard it, without knowing about the lawsuit, and said " Who plagiarized who? Because it sounds very similarly to TMBGITW ?"
.
So then I knew there was a thing between these two songs that couldn't be denied...

A final decision was supposedly handed down in favour of the Italians in 2015, but I’m not sure what’s supposed to have been happening since then. It would be interesting to at least hear some news on it either way.
