If you have preordered this from Amazon you pay the lowest price it drops to in the period which you ordered it. Fingers crossed they do something similar for the CD Box set

Awesome! I'd already allocated £500 for the CD and vinyl. Now it'll be less than £400 for both.

Do you happen to have any info on why Amazon UK don't have an expected release date now? I know you often have inside info.

I don't, unfortunately. I'll see what I can find out, though!

It does on the sale page, but if you have an order placed for it, the order page says waiting for an estimated delivery time. I had an e-mail last week saying they don't have an estimate yet despite previously stating 1st October.

Hopefully that'll be when mine arrives. I'm off work that week. My order just isn't showing one atm.

Still don't know whether to get the Super Deluxe CD or vinyl version yet. I'll rip the CDs once and that'll be it, whereas the vinyl comes with MP3s already ripped. I haven't got a record player - but the vinyl set looks gorgeous. I dunno - gotta make a decision soon!!

Still far too expensive. At least the 1999 set was a fairer price!

I'm not a mug and Prince won't be getting any of the money so I will just be streaming on Deezer! (It will be on streaming sites!)

I just bought the Loving the Alien set from Bowie for something like $110 USD. REALLY puts this set's price into perspective.

^ Yes hopefully they will watch and learn and reduce the future price of releases, they would definitely get more sales that way and probably overall more money.

When you think of how much money is being made with Prince's name now you kind of wonder why the hell Warners etc didn't give in to all his demands in his lifetime, they now will more than recoup their costs probably hundreds or thousands of times over. Looking back, his demands were really small fry when you look at the bigger picture.

I think it would be a good idea now that all artists should have an advance agreement where they get an advance of predicted post humous royalties while they are still alive. It somehow seems unfair or weird that so much is made when they are dead and they never see it or even get the public appreciation such as the SOTT set is bound to create.

It was because HMV UK dropped the price to £229 and Amazon followed suit.

How about a price drop on the U.S. version?

It's still at a steep $159.98. Hurt me!
