Just the peach vinyl for me, and will Spotify the outtakes. I’m not a massive fan of deluxe expanded albums on vinyl; that’s CD territory for me, and I only live in a small one-bedroom flat. Plus, I’m saving money for future Legacy reissues.

Both CD and Vinyl. Since SOTT is my favorite Prince album I felt I better do it. I only got 1999 sd on CD, because like some, I don't want to flip all those lps. Although, I would buy remaster versions of the original albums on vinyl.

Romeoblu

Even though I'm getting the CD set most of my listening these days is streamed either to my sonos system or on my DAP via Qobuz.

I do love vinyl but I think the best sound I can achieve is from Digital music.

Qobuz will have the files in hi-res and they generally sound fantastic.

Qobuz is already showing the tracks so I can have my playlists ready for release day.

I already put together a couple of pseudo albums from the Vault tracks.

One entitled All My Dreams and one called Rebirth of The Flesh.

Eventually, vinyl. Need to rub some pennies together first.

Just recently got 1999 deluxe on vinyl, and it's packaged beautifully.

hmmm... 24 bit / 44.1hz doesn't seem like a winning recipe for this album where everything (all layers) are already turned up.

The 44.1 hz part is weird. Seems like it miught be a rip off! Are there audiophile reviews of this store's product?

I believe they are legit.
I've bought stuff from them before.
But not anything 24bit

Maybe some one knows more about them

You are right it should be 192kHz hmmm

CD's in the ludicrous 12" packaging now.

I love vinyl but having to change sides every a couple songs for LONG albums like this is a NO.

Same here. Besides, when it comes to the collection of outtakes, I like to skip through 'em, jump from one to the other.

Were they in mp3 format?

1999 SD Vinyl had a choice of either mp3 320kbps or another format which was either flac or wav - sorry, can't remember which, but it was definitely a lossless format.

I can't justify the expense of the SDE on CD.

I'll be buying the 24 bit FLAC files from Qobuz for £61.99.

https://www.qobuz.com/gb-...6cutyb62na

That's the price you pay if you sign up to their streaming service, and you can sign up for a free month... And I'm cheap - so that's what I'm going to do. lol

Sadly, I don't have much disposible income, but it's my birthday next week. I've asked absolutely everyone for money, so I'm hoping to have enough (or nearly enough) to order the CDs. I am struggling to justify it though when I can listen to it for free online.

CD... but I doubt I will play the CDs ever. I will get MP3s of them. I may rip the DVD if I can. But I doubt I would watch it more that a few times.

Since the book is full size there is no reason to get the LP. I am fully on the CDs/digital is better than vinyl side.

I've ordered the vinyl SDE version, even though I don't actually play vinyl anymore and I'm not the kind of collector who buys all versions of all releases. What I'm interested in though is more and more photos of tape boxes, reels, gear etc from the vault and from P's studio, and I'm hoping that the inner sleeves of the vinyl set will have photos that the CD version won't have as most probably it won't come with inner sleeves.

Yeah, me too. Cd's will save me some money I need. I like LP's more, but I've got the regular/original album on LP (on CD too by the way). Digital is out of the question for me.

I had a good long listen to a lot of the catalog on Qobuz (they have some of the Prince catalog on 24/96 which is the proper low end of the high res scale) on some nice kit recently - I'm talking £10k plus kit... and whilst I wasn't able to do a side by side comparison, it did sound ok - but I recently commented (elsewhere on these forums) about the negligible difference between the CD of Prince / Prince and the 192khz 24bit version. And that was with some nice kit too.

Hopefully over the next few weeks I'm going to delve into the Qobuz catalog and then I'll provide some feedback.

I'm just buying the CD 8+1 set until I can really hear the benefits of 24bit....
