HARDROCKLOVER

I think HARDROCKLOVER is a very underated song by Prince, it is a track that combines old school Prince with a more modern edge sound, it's a shame it hasn't got more love amongst his fans... To be honest I think this is one of the best sounding Joshua Welton tracks, it's one of the few Welton tracks that doesn't seem overproduced...

Seemed to me like the majority liked it when it was released as a single but then talk of it went quiet after Phase I dropped. Definitely one of the best tracks on that album and I actually like the entire collection.

RIP sad

one of my favorite tracks from the last few releases. especially the single version that doens't
segue into "1000 Xs & Os" but just ends with a fade out.

i would eat up anymore of these kind of tracks from him, i love love love LOVE it music

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I always thought it was one of the weakest songs on HnR1.

The story was that Prince came into the studio one day and told Josh that he wanted a song that would go up and down. HARDROCKLOVER was the result.

It's not bad but it sounds like a song that was pasted together and there's really not much to it besides what Prince asked for.

One of the better tracks Josh was involved with for sure. Cool atmospheric vibe to it. Would’ve been great live
.
I remember it going up on soundcloud and listening to it in my car outside work, loving this brand new track. Those were great times when things would pop up randomly on the internet

it was the most "Prince" sounding song on Hit N Run 1...almost like a modern day "Darling Nikki"...it kinda seemed out of place on that album

Exactly... I just wish he would've created a whole album based on that sound, other than HitnRun ofc...

Phase3

Always liked it but to me it always sounded unfinished. I cant put my finger on it but it just feels incomplete and like it's missing something
Also,it reminds of the LL Cool J song "Doin It" which isn't a bad thing at all.

I just found it ironic that a song about a hard rock lover is dressed up in modern pop production lol. The guitar work and Prince's vox are cool though

Say what you will about "Hit N Run Phase One" but there is a stretch of songs from "Fallinlove2nite" through "June" (minus "Mr. Nelson") that is some of Prince's best songs of the later years, "Hardrocklover" is one of those songs!!

Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

I dubbed it onto the title sequence of "True Detective" season 2 replacing the music they had there, and it worked.

Fantastic track and I'm all in. Showed he still had it even in the later years.

Great song. Gonna go listen to it now in fact.

i found "U Know" the same way weeks before AOA came out and burned it on to a CD and would drive around randomly blasting that joint, thinking THE KID IS IN RARE FORM TONIGHT...DAMN i loved that joint when i first heard it... by the time AOA came out, i had already wore out "U Know" and "Breakfast Can Wait"...good times

Interestingly both Princevault and Wikipedia credit Prince and Josh as cowriters on most tracks but a simple look at the Universal database shows that Prince is in fact the sole writer for each song: https://www.umusicpub.com...-phase-one
