Hell, even the circulating version is great IMO. Sure, could have been mind blowing to have been able to hear the original version. But, we'll at least get to hear a crystal clear version of the one circulating. Will be one of the highlights for me anyway. Shit, this set is FULL of highlights actually!! Man do I love pizza...

Seems to be pretty standard for Amazon UK to put expensive sets up a low price for 24 hours, hike the price right up for a while, then drop it again before the release date. I remember them doing this with the Beatles stereo and mono box sets 10+ years ago, and on lots of pre-orders since then.

Anyway, as long as you ordered it when it was £143 then you've locked in that price, and if it doees drop below that before the release date, you'll get it for the cheaper price.

I am so excited for this set. So much to digest. I am still debating on CD vs Vinyl. I have 2 vinyl copies of the original album (one was a gift) and honestly sound great. I have the CD on order but might switch it.

Anyway, one thing I can't wait to hear is that Shep remix version of Strange Relationship just for the fact that its from an earlier version of the song. Its one of my all time fave songs.

So wondering what was the other version of I Could Never Take the Place of your Man that circulated a few years ago (which I LOVE). I was assuming it was an abandoned Shep remix...but maybe it was fan-made? I am surprised its not on here since SR remix is. Nit-picking I know...but just wondering.

I'm holding on with ordering until September. Last year I got the 1999 LP box for about half the price in Hungary (the list price was already way below what it went for in Western Europe, and then MediaMarkt had some sale that meant a further 30% came off that lower price).

They don't have a UK store. We can order from DD US, and the shipping is extremely reasonable, but once we get stung by customs + handling it's likely to work out about £135 ($167), plus we'd have the agonising wait of an extra 10 days or something.

Interesting claim that the extended Dorothy Parker doesn’t seem to exist. What was the original source of info about it?

I have a faint recollection of traders claiming here to have it or having heard it but honestly this could be a fake memory or it could have been unreliable sources, it goes back. Maybe as others said the 1mn longer version as as long as it gets. I don't think anyone in P's camp ever mentioned an extended version but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

• Curious to know why they (Michael Howe?) decided to put all the tracks Prince offered to Bonnie Rait in the set. Believe we all have heard Jealous Girl and the Bonnie Raitt's version of I Need A Man and i'm excited to hear the other two – it just seems a bit odd as these tracks weren't really linked to Sign "O" The Times. I remember the earliest bootleg of Rebirth of The Flesh I heard back in 1988 had an awkward sudden hard end after "Come To The Crystal Ball" (like someone screwed up the tape). (Back then it had been mis-titled "Souly-A-Colia"!) Then it was quite a few years later that I finally heard the version sequenced for the Crystal Ball LP that segued into Play In The Sunshine (with the machine gun noises). The one from the Camille test pressing has a smoother fade after "Come To The Crystal Ball". But I can believe that there should be a standalone master that has continues after that ending - otherwise I don't know why they'd use the word "Outro". I guess we will have to wait and see. (I get a bit obsessive over this song I've loved for 30+ years and wanted in perfect quality!)
