Besides Kirsty Alley's parts in Los Angeles and Paisley Park, PV says Viking Drive in Eden Prairie and "on location" 2nd Ave N, downtown Minneapolis.

I want to know where the movie poster for Purple Rain was shot, and I don't know how to find that.

That is what I always thought, but didn't want to spend my whole life banging on the keys to this laptop to find out. (too trivial, anyway) Besides, it is summertime, too gloriously beautiful to stay in the house right now.

Yes, it was in the alleys around Glam Slam. 110 North 5th St/2nd Avenue North.

Correct! That same stairwell appears in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure as well. When Pee-Wee is walking down an alley at night in the rain.

No cell phone with data?

Well, sometimes yes, sometimes no. On the days I work in town, fine, 4G. But on my off days and weekends, cell phone service is tricky. Even in this wonderful 21st century, when you live more than 11 miles from the nearest cell phone tower... Anyhow, this wonderful condition happens out in the boonies in the Missouri Ozarks, lol. I also have a metal roof on this house, and if it wasn't for a cell phone booster & a transponder on my old TV antenna, I wouldn't be getting nuthin.

As it is, we "ping" off a small private cell tower acrosss the road at the lake marina. If it wasn't for my HughesNet dish in the front yard, we would have cruddy internet service too. But, would not trade living out in the country for anything!
