Detroit 82 - Early Show Bootleg VS Late Show Official Release NO TROLL THREADS! NO SOLICITING FOR BOOTLEGS! Discussion is fine, so long as the bootleg is not being promoted e.g. pre-release; requests/offers to share or copy, and links to download or bootleg sites are not. Posting Prince and associated artist videos from sites such as YouTube is also not allowed. Posts of this nature will be deleted and repeat offenders will be first warned, and then banned. Troll threads, fake tracklists, and attention seeking rumor threads will be also be swiftly dealt with. These rules are strictly enforced! Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

I'll give the boot another spin - I listened to the Late Show release yesterday and thought the sound was pretty great

Personally I would pick the late show because I really enjoy the mix especially on headphones. It just hits all the right notes for me when it comes to the balance between the energy of the performance and the clarity brought by a brand new mix

I think the official show sounds great. On the other hand I don't understand why they couldn't / wouldn't improve and property mix the video show's sound in a similar fashion, it sounds like a bootleg. Probably because they don't have the multitracks. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

Not to comment on these releases, but a lot of shows don't translate on tape and being in the room just had a different feel. So like if David Z. just remembers the shows sounded more heavy or bassy or the synths cut through you, then trying to replicate that would be different than what we've heard from soundboard recordings, which rarely capture the show.

Even if true, is there really no way to kind of clean it a little? We were told P&AM83 could have been improved, why not this? A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

I like both those Detroit shows but I like the earlier one from the bootlegs better. Maybe not so much for quality, although the bootleg is very good, but also for the feel. I just get a better vibe from the earlier one. Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.
