Heard Let's Go Crazy on the radio today

...and it was the album version. A few clicks before the proper intro, but they ended before before the weird laugh at the 4-minute laugh via a fade-out. Or maybe something else

(I'm listening through Mix 106.3 Canberra, so this same edit plays across Australia)

I was in Target earlier and heard "Strollin'." I straight tripped on that.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

The last few times I've been to Target I keep hearing Starfish and Coffee. They must have it on as a part of some looped playlist or something.

A couple of days ago I heard the video version of Gett Off on the radio which caught me of guard.
I don't remember it was ever released on single or as a radio promo or anything.

You've never heard of the "Gett Off" single, is that what you're saying? There's a whole EP of songs. "Gangsta Glam," "Clockin' the Jizz," "Violet The Organ Grinder." There were tons of edits in the US & UK, but many of them were the same with a different name on it. I've no doubt the "wet" being edited out for radio releases in some markets. The video has the edit on Diamonds and Pearls Video Collection, but the video EP doesn't (or vice versa - one of them is edited, one isn't).

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

No, I'm saying exactly what I said.
I have never seen the video version of the song being released on any single or promo.

I only know of the video. Was this version released on a single or promo disc?

A couple of weeks before lockdown started I was in Pizza Hut and Stopthistrain was played. I've never been more surprised to hear a track played in public.

RIP sad

Diamonds and Pearls Video Collection

Gett Off Video EP

One has the edit, one doesn't. I feel like one has more titty flashin' in it than the other. I forget. It's been a minute since I've watched either.

I know that, I should have been more clear in my question i guess cuz I meant with my question if the video version of the song was ever released in any form on disc as in CD or vinyl for it to play on the radio. But I guess they just ripped the video version from the DVD collection and played it for whatever reason.

Well, I was in Jamaica last year and tried to get the poolside DJ to play a Prince song for me. Either he was too young, had a limited stack, or was just an not with it. They speak English there, so that was not the problem, either. He kept trying to play me MJ songs, OMG! I finally just gave up on him...

Just so you know I aint dripping in diamonds or anything, it was a church mission trip, building things and all!

Good morning children...take a look out your window, the world is falling...

It seems like every time I'm in some store, a Prince song plays, and it makes me smile. It's like somehow someone out there knows what a fan I am, and how much I loved the man. lol I also seem to find Prince stuff, like books and what not, even if I'm not looking for them. I sometimes just look up and see that face and those eyes looking right at me. lol

But we answered that in the thread, didn't we? There's not an exclusive mix just for the video, unless it's a couple of bars cut from a chorus or something minor like that.

No you didn't and yes there is, I think yoiu should recheck the video. the video has the extra verse that is not on the album version (but the verse is printed in the lyric booklet) but is on some of the Maxi single versions along with other verses and music. Seems YOU have some catching up to do. wink

Sweetie, listen. As many damn mixes as they put out of that song - no one can remember them. lol I do have them all, but goddamn if I'm going to sit and memorize them all. hahaha

And yes, there is a verse cut from the album version (which could have been left in had he not put Tony M. every-damn-where). that's the verse about the feet in the drawers, in the bedroom or closet or whatever. yes?

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

A couple of days ago, I was watching an Italian show called Propaganda Live (a sort of chronicle/reportage of recent events, with an amusing but somehow also "serious" approach on the current subjects) on air in prime time on a national broadcast; the anchor man was wearing a Prince t-shirt, among the fake studio audience (beacause of the virus) there was a life-size cardboard cut of Prince as well, and even the band played some Purple Rain notes after Shut This Down and Baltimore (!!!); a television report followed the protests in Minneapolis with the demonstrators marching, dancing ans singing Let's Go Crazy... A complete purple surprise to me.

Well darlin' (since we're getting cozy LOL) - it may just take some listening to see what's what. But I really do doubt they ripped the audio from the video to play somewhere randomly. It had to be a mix somewhere. Just FYI: some of those mixes you'll find out there are the same, but named differently. Some mixes in the UK were named differently in the US, but they're the exact same thing. I think Princevault sorta lays out what is what. It's a good place to jumpstart your search.

Personally, I found some of those mixes to be useless or uninteresting. They were just the same reedits over and over. Whereas you had more interesting stuff like Housestyle or Flutestramental takes. But the Urge, Thrust, etc dubs are yawnsville.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

If it has the edit, it's from the D&P Video Collection. The Gett Off video maxi doesn't have the edit. I don't know which one is on the YT channel. But that's how you can tell. "wet" is edited with his scream.

the video version is the album version with the (1) extra verse and that exact version I heard on the radio.
All those thrust/urge/purple pump dubs and whatnot mixes also have the Damn Near 10 Minutes lyrics that aren't on the album or video versions.
I don;t think a 'video' mix (like with Partyman) was ever released for Gett Off (As far as I know I have all the singles, Maxi's and Promo CD's for Gett Off including the Japanese mash up CD with the Cream mixes).
So I guess they must have ripped it from the DVD or VHS to have that mix played on the radio.
