I did a remix album of this record called Come Again a few years ago. Did some mixing between tracks to keep the flow. Oddly, the timing is only about 4 seconds different.

I reconfigured the album, putting in remixes, and added new ocean sounds. I removed the "Poem" elements but kept the ocean sounds where they were originally placed. Because another version of "Come" I use cuts off near the end, I did mix the last 15% of the album version in to complete the song. "Loose!" ends differently on Versace, so I mixed in some album elements to complete the track and send it into "Papa".

It's a fun listen.

  1. Come (alternate version #1 mixed with album version)
  2. Space (Universal Love Radio mix w/o rap)
  3. Pheromone (album version)
  4. Loose! (from Versace & Other Experiences mixed with elements from album version)
  5. Papa (album version)
  6. Race (from Versace & Other Experiences)
  7. Dark (from Crystal Ball)
  8. Solo (album version)
  9. Letitgo (Caviar Radio Edit)
  10. Orgasm (altered with new ocean segue)

I redid the album cover, just a bit. I called the playlist COME AGAIN.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

The Come album is a better coehesive album than GOLD Experience. Although, GE has better songs on it as an entire album the COME album is better.

Right on, but I prefer Come by a mile.

...and he said it didn't happen (publicly) but he gave details to those close to him. Like in his book, he mentions how his mother took his babysitting money and treats her gently when writing -- but told others (besides Kim) that she stole it and he was angry many years later.

He even alludes to this in his book:
"Mama held up her baby for protection from a man with a strap in his hand."

I think the song is a combination of his own father's and stepfather's actions.

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

That is an interesting remix album Trivial cool It probably would have worked if Prince released an official remix album of Come as well...There seems to be enough remixes/alternate versions of those tracks.

Interesting, most of his songs most likely are like this, supposedly not personal, but there are details here and there that are..

Gold is overproduced, whereas Come is perfectly balanced.

I love the album, always have done.

But like all Prince albums (except Dirty Mind), it is flawed for me.

Come, the title track, the version that is on the album is far inferior to the version from the Beautiful Experience film. The album would have been much better with 11 mins of that mix.

Space is good but often flits in an out of my Prince best of, play list.

Pheremone is fantastic. Always up there and extra good with headphones / earphones.

Loose is meh.

Papa is great, but not always an easy listen. Does a longer version exist?

Race, I could take or leave. But if I'm auditioning new Hi-Fi equipment it is one of my reference tracks for the bass sound. Weirdly many speakers struggle with it.

Dark - I love this track. Always in my best of / playlists. Much better than the version (So Dark) from Crystal Ball.

Solo - Absolutely love this track. Always in my best of / playlists.

I know this track really divides the fans though. Would be interesting to know what annoys the haters so much.

Letitgo - Absolutely love this track but I can't listen to the album version due to the channel of distorted noise that has been added seemingly just to piss people off and canines too.

So I add Letitgo (On the Cool-Out Tip radio edit) instead as that is awesome too.

Is there a longer (full version) of this mix kicking around?

Why release something and call it an edit when there's only one version - why not just On the Cool-Out Tip Mix? Prince Vault lists Letitgo (On The Cool-Out Mix) as unreleased - have any bootleg perusers noted its actual existence?

I think the Come / Gold Experience period is one of Prince's most awesome moments.

I'd love a Come / GE Super Deluxe edition as one package. Musically they blend really well into each. Third on my list of SDE requests after ATWIAD and SOTT.

"Purple Rain", "1999" & "Sign o'The Times are NOT flawed as well.
"Come" is nowhere near the level of those works

And this is why I argue stuff like "Strays of the World" wouldn't fit on Come. A lot of the outtakes have that over-the-top Gold production.... would've fit fine on Gold, though.

Agree, although I don't find it as overproduced as Gold.

The one Gold Experience track that I think would kinda fit on 'Come' is 'Dolphin'...Lyrically and thematically it actually fits in nicely with the other tracks...But it works great on TGE too.

I gotta respectfully disagree here, that's one of the glammiest most overproduced tracks on TGE.

Come is great! I always hear about it having a mixed-to-negative reputation and I never understood it. Maybe it is because I went into the album with it being out for years so there was no real pre-conceptions of what it should be - but it is a fantastic "late night" album

Come is s highlight for me. It really deserves a special release with the original 93 configuration and all the alternate versions and remixes. Would be an ideal project for a new NPGMC.

No no, I meant I never rated the "Come" album. I quite like TGE. Never thought much of Billy Jack Bitch though.

Come is one of those albums that shows just how fantastic Prince was at sequencing. I can put it on, groove along, and it's over before I know it (that's what she said).Probably in my top 10 favourites. Top 10 Prince albums? How much room is even left in that list after 1988?

Here is something I will say to Come's credit and detriment: it doesn't overreach. Despite all the segues, I find it is much more cohesive than Lovesymbol or The Gold Experience, with less filler (and no Tony M.). But I don't think it quite aspires to the musical heights of either of those records. Nothing on Come drops my jaw like "Shhh" or the epics on Lovesymbol. Only the title track comes close. No grand slams, but I think Come wins by runs batted in.

Come has aged fantastic, as a matter of fact it has aged much better than TGE.

Come is an underated album in Prince's discography, and TGE is highly overated by fans here on the Org.

That's what I say. Yesterday night I was listening Letitgo and Papa, great songs, specially Letitgo which sound very nineties in a good way, is so enjoyable that I had to play it 3 times.

I think people jump on the goth wagon when describing the album as cold. It's certainly not.

I took a listen to it again today because I love the record. For whatever reason, I was hearing things I'd never really heard before. Synths in the background, those velvety pads that just tie things together like a silk ribbon. I just streamed it on Spotify but something about it just sounded really different. I didn't think I could love it anymore, but today I did.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.
