"The Flow." "Minneapolis. Minneapolis".

"2 Nigs United for West Compton" "But the ones from Minneapolis..."

MPLSound.

MPLS

"Rock and Roll is Alive and it lives in Minneapolis."

From a certain point of view. Then we could also include "Calhoun Square" amongst others.

"The Flow" may have been the first mention of Minneapolis. You'd think it'd be sooner, but I didn't find that.

And if we're using "Calhoun Square" or "Uptown" as references, then "Paisley Park," "Northside," & "Seven Corners" are in that mix, too. It seems broad for the purposes of this thread, though. He mentions the Galpin house (yellow) in "Zanalee." That's a stretch.

I didn't search the internet releases or anything past 3121.

If you have a problem with me, text me. If you don't have my number, you don't know me well enough to have a problem with me.

I believe "The Flow" is. The reason I believe this is because I'm from Minneapolis and kept waiting for Prince to reference it on record and thought it was soooo cool when he finally did. Of course, Dead on It was recorded earlier.

Someone else here mentioned "northside" as a reference to Minne. Prince gives a shout-out to "Moneyapple" in that song.

.

Honorable mention: "Laydown", in which he gives a shout-out to Minnesota.
