masaba

I worked at a movie theater and would play my own music over the PA

And I would play my personal Prince mixes pretty much all day during my shifts And I'd turn the music up loud too. None of the songs with swearing though, unfortunately, but pretty much everything else.

The music would play right up until the preshow started. For really popular movies the theatres would sometimes fill up super early, so I'd get the wonderful pleasure of watching a theater full of random people unknowingly talking their foot to Adonis and Bathsheba while waiting for the Avengers to start. Or Still Would Stand All Time from Small Club biggrin

The people in my neighborhood have heard pretty much every Prince boot and have no idea.

Good times lol

Did they like your mix? Both your neighbors and the cinema crowd?

I am proud of you, you were giving the people what they needed instead of what they wanted! I would have loved to sit in a movie theater and hearing obscure Prince tracks. cool

RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I adore that story. Did anybody ever approach and ask about the music? I certainly would have loved going to the movies and hearing Prince and watching the reactions.

That's the kind of thing people will bond and reminisce about when they come back and visit their hometown. "Remember that movie theater that played all those Prince bootlegs? What was going on?".

That couldn't happen today in most cities. They play canned sponsored music or pre-show commercial videos.

C’mon. The average moviegoer wouldn’t have a clue.

Did you reguarly use a playlist with those (and Still Would Stand All Time) as the go-to one during Endgame's cinema run.

This is what we all need to do in our own little worlds: spread the music of Prince so it feeds into their minds without them even realising it, and then the world will be ours! biggrin
