I never had an original TRC so obviously can't compare, but from what I can see from my copy, it's a really nicely done reissue. One of the best Legacy rereleases yet. Sadly, as I've spent an unhealthy amount on other vinyl during lockdown, I'm going to have to hold off on buying the others for a few months, but I will do. Lol.

my LP copy is on its way. I'm anxious to listen to TRC on vinyl.

Please do not simply listen.

Take the virgin vinyl, put it on the ultra-cleaned turntable, hook up your 24/192 AD-converter and capture a pristine stream of that high-res audio for the turntable-less folks.

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

This sounds great. This album is perfect for vinyl. Also the slip mat looks so cool.

I think Sony legacy have done a great job with the vinyl reissues.

Very happy with this release. As you said, its sounds great on record and the clear vinyl looks fantastic. And finally, a nice big booklet, with lyrics! There best reissue so far.

Another great release.

I still think Emancipation is my favourite reissue due to it sounding far better than the CD version but this is close.

Only listened to Emancipation on vinyl once so far. I only got it though a few weeks ago. I think the more live sounding The Rainbow children just edges it on vinyl. And with the large booklet and lyrics. I prefer this release. The art work is great on the Emancipation too though.

Personally, I wish it wasn't on clear vinyl, and I really could not care less about a f'ing slipmat (what are we, 12? lol ) but if the same care and attention has been paid to the audio presentation here that was paid to every previous Sony reissue so far, then a true treat it will be, and also the definitive version of the album.

I have the original vinyl edition of this, and it sounds pretty great... but Sony's work so far has been so stellar on the vinyl reissues that it's worth getting again.

I may sell the slipmat.

I kinda hate this album but I bought it cause it looks so damn pretty. I also just picked up Emancipation but I just wish they'd lay off the Purple Vinyl. Has no place in that era.

I remember buying it when it came out and not hating it, but not feeling it at all! And as with some other prince albums, it has grown on me over time, and giving it more plays. This vinyl release had made me appreciate the album more. The music on this album is great. A couple of the songs I'm not that bothered for. But I can enjoy the music behind the lyrics.

It sounds amazing. I love the clear records....and call me a 12 year old but I love the mat. Seriously my fave reissue by far. This album has always been a favorite of mine, and I can't be happier.

We're gonna need a bigger boat

I got my copy of this and it plays like a dream. Perfect copy. I have actually ordered a second copy to put on display as it is amazing to look at the artwork. To be honest, I have always put this album at the bottom of my favourite CDs from Prince - but hearing it on Vinyl is a totally wonderful experience. Very happy with the pressing and the slip mat is cool, even if I don't use it (as I prefer my Technics turntable mat) it would look really cool framed coz the colours pop in a black frame. I can recommend this pressing.

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind πŸ’œ

The presentation of this album is amazing! A real booklet with lyrics and artwork, the clean vinyl and the slipmat..just a gorgeous offering. Wonderful to hear on vinyl...looking forward to giving this album more of a chance than I had previously. Just one question about the audio thus far...is anyone else hearing distortion or noise (not sure what to call it) on muse 2 the pharaoh and everywhere ( and in mellow as well). I am listing on headphones. Not sure if it the record itself that I need to get replaced or if it is the recording. Thanks for any input.... music

Finally got round to collecting my records from my local store.... ripping The Rainbow Children at the moment.... I have the slipmat on... what is it supposed to do?

It's just.... colours turning in a circle. Is it supposed to form a pattern on something. A complete waste of time, in my opinion. Doesn't suit the music of the album at all, and just a silly gimmick.

That's going straight up in the loft.

Weird addition..... the good news is that the audio on this new vinyl edition is absolutely stellar!!

Another fantastic release from Sony! And once again, this latest vinyl edition becomes the definitive edition of the album....

Fantastic.

Be happy the estate chose to include the slipmat instead of making the records rainbow-colored.

The slip mat I guess is a gimmick but being Rainbow Coloured does make sense smile

I like mine - in fact it looks gorgeous in a black frame. The vinyl pressing is perfect isn't it and the artwork on large format is stunning. I confess I brought a second copy just to display the artwork and slipmat......
