Jill Jones offers some details about "Our Destiny" on Twitter

.

Prince sang it first. To me in a limo over the track and then gave me his version on the demo. He was thinking of writing a musical called Road House Garden. Then I recorded it. If I am not mistaken we were all onboard that day. L, W and him. They in control room, me-studio.

But actually , correction- I don’t think P was there at all. Just the girls. It was almost a year later.

Interesting insight. I really dig that and RG, still to me the best versions of both of those are the live First Avenue '84 versions although I really like Jill's version in the studio

Just the girls ... obviously a conspiracy to discredit Prince! /s

I love that detail though, it shows how trusting he'd become and how he'd trained them all to where they could go autopilot, and become a real creative factory.

...and then he pivots and cuts that off shortly after.

I hope we get his demo version at some point. I agree that the best version is from the 1984 Birthday concert at First Ave. It's such an interesting and unique song in his canon.

Interesting information, but I agree with most that the best version of the song is Prince's own live version at his '84 birthday show. SO GOOD!!
