Put On Your facemasks... Covid-19 It is indeed very insulting to see the Estate cashing in when there's a critical outbreak... Something Prince would not have approved. The Question is what company is making the facemasks and what profits is the Estate gaining from this?

I don't know if this should be in this side of the Forum... What do you folks think of this?

going off the website, they claim the charity benefit is "For each mask purchased The Prince Estate will donate one to communities in need."
considering they're charging 15 bucks a pop for these, and they can't cost more than 50 cents or a dollar to make (if that much), i'd say it's pretty cash grab. sad thing is that i'm sure they'll sell well. (of course i'm glad for people to have masks, but you know what i mean) |

They look like rejected thong designs. Haha.
But everybody is doing masks so if they are using some local people to make these and are giving some away, it's not that bad. I also imagine they will be selling these at Paisley when Paisley reopens.

Everyone's clamoring for masks of their favorite artists so it was only a matter of time before the estate started selling them... "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

OK! I give up! Let's sell off Paisley Park, all of Prince's music and his personal effects to pay the $51-$153 MILLION estate tax debt due to the Federal and Minnesota governments.
Y'all want that? Let's do it! Start the petitions! Tell the IRS and Minnesota tax authorities to come get it.

There's other ways to monetize. The Studio 2 or whatever candle for instance was one thing, this is on another level. |

The Studio candle is NOT being sold by the Prince estate. It's from PRN Alumni Foundation, a completely separate organization, a charity created by ex-associates and employees to support charitable needs.
As I said, the Prince Estate needs to do everything they can to erase the tax debt. Interest is piling up and adding to the problems. I'm GLAD they started competing with the Vietnamese scammers who've been selling masks for so long, stealing trademarks and copyrights.

Until these showed up, my FB feed was regularly getting pelted with ads for Prince-themed masks by what are no-doubt unauthorized sellers. |

Excuse my dumbness, I was born this way (lol), but why is there such a huge tax debt? Is it solely because he died intestate? I heard that P was almost royalty around Chanhassen because of the monumental amounts of tax he paid. I think that they levied such a huge bill on him after his tragic death just goes to show... well, a lot of things. |

Just looking at what people are charging on Etsy $15 doesn't seem outrageous. If the estate was selling them for $5 or whatever people would wonder if they were any good.

Getting people to wear masks is not a cure for Coronavirus, if so then no one would get it, be hospitalized or die, and wearing a mask would be the cure for it......it's not! |

The estate tax is very misunderstood and has been manipulated by the wealthy to sound like something unfair. If someone just gave you $1,000,000, you'd have to pay taxes on it. Similarly Prince's siblings each got a share worth millions and millions. Why shouldnt they pay taxes on it? Keep in mind there is a huge exemption (Like 5 milllion dollars! tax free). |

No one says is a cure but if someone with the virus wears a mask the odds of them infecting someone else through proximity is dramtically diminished.

What about those that lives with someone with the virus, who is no doubt in very close proximity, does that mean that they have to wear a mask 24/7 around them, morning, noon, and night, while in the shower, asleep, etc? Recently it was reported that more people caught the virus while being at home than any other way, so no one truly knows for certain that wearing a mask really helps or stops anything. I guess I just find it disgusting that some people will try to make a buck off of anything, no matter what! Why not make masks and give them away to people that need them, just to be a help to mankind, than just doing it for your own profit and greed? |

I`m actually glad that they are selling masks! I like to wear the mask so that I am less likely to be infecting others if I am an asymptomatic carrier, and they are more fun than the gause masks |

If you thought it was a cure then you are sadly misinformed. It is to mitigate the spread of the virus by covering one's mouth and nose so that if you do have it (and many do have it unknowingly) you do not emit micro-droplets by speaking, sneezing or coughing near another person in close proximity. ^^ know. Still it's ironic. If this keeps up, masking will be de rigueur this decade. Tora Tora and The City of New Orleans are merely prophetic.
