Playing around in Prince world

Prince's music talks a lot about ecstasy and pain in relationships. When it comes to pain, both men and women express hurt over unauthorized playing around.

Is there any tendency, in Prince's music or amongst fans, to a double standard?

In the purple music and world, are the men relatively more often celebrated for "pimping/playering," and the women relatively more often mocked/condemned for "whoring"? The other way around? Pretty even?

FWIW, I think women can be just as mean as men. I'm not one of those to say that women leaders are better than men leaders. It all depends on the individual leader, IMO.

I'm just wondering about thoughts on how this particular area has worked in the purple world over the years, and how it works now.

I've always been impressed that even back in the '70s, Prince wasn't one to falsely portray women as dainty little beings without carnal desires. I've also been impressed by how well (IMO), Prince can write from a female perspective. Pretty cool.
