Ezra Edelman (of "O.J.: Made in America" fame) is the director of Netflix's long awaited Prince documentary

The name of the (new) director of Netflix's long awaited Prince documentary has leaked: it's Ezra Edelman who earlier directed the award-winning O.J.: Made in America.

#prince's

Apparently ?uestlove let this slip during one of his recent "all-Prince" DJ sets.

thumbs up! thanks Bart!
I liked the OJ doc so hopefully he won't be 'leashed' by The Estate and can do his thing without them interfering too much. He's also a much better choice than Ava Duvernay who I suspect would have made a shitty doc with her 'woke' agenda.

Some of us have been holding this close to the vest for a long time.
I hope this revelation doesn't cause this to fail again.

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

Shocked that this isn’t getting more attention from the Prince community.

Don't know him. Of course wiki'd him at least. Interesting background, seems a bit limited but meaty. Curious to get a feel for him.

O.J.: Made in America is one of the most intelligent, deep, subtle things that I've seen on TV these last years.

Not sure what that unnecessary comment is about.

At any rate, Ezra is a great choice to take it over, given documentaries are his forte. Looking forward to it.

Change it one more time..

I am very pleased to hear this director has taken over. That OJ: Made in America series was must-watch television. (Everyone's acting was great, so I hope that doesn't overvalue what the director brought to the production.)

I guess you're confusing it with "The People vs. O. J. Simpson, American Crime Story"

(which was great indeed!)

I haven't seen "Made in America" yet, bute the ratings im IMDB are very good (average: 8,9 of 10), so it sounds promising to me.

I think it's interesting, that Ezra Edelman seems to have been focused on the sports world until now:

"Brookyln Dodgers, The Ghost of Flatbush" (2007)

"Magic & Bird, A Courtship of Rivals" (2010)

"9-Man" (2014) [about a streetball game]

I'll probably get snipped for saying this, but there has always been lots of low-key racism on .org, much of it directed at Prince himself (don't search threads about the song "Baltimore").

No I don't wink see O.J.: Made in America you will be blown away, even if you think you know everything and you're fed up with this sad, dramatic story.

If it's gonna be 85% about 1976-1988 and 15% about 1989-2016 like so many other documentaries and books, they can go f... off and die, I ain't watching it.

Ezra...please call up Duane Tudahl, Per Nilsen, Vernon Reid and true musicologists with knowledge of Black Music history.

And the smart folks in his fanbase and the Minneapolis music scene.
