Partyman=Prince's Happiest, Wildest Video? Perfect If You're Stuck At Home

You know how it is when you're social distancing--you rummage through YouTube for anything Prince related. I came across Partyman earlier, the extended version, and watched it for the first time in a million years. Is it just me, or is this not the happiest version of Prince ever? Can anyone think of a video where he and everyone else in the video is having more fun? It's the perfect antidote to cabin fever.

It is a really fun, and even funny video, directed by his best director, Magnoli (right?). But within the story of the video... he does kill everyone.

Agreed. He does "kill" everyone with the liquid he pours into the tank and from which they all drink, but this is in keeping with the Batman theme, correct? Although he is the new King in town, Batman is still THE agent of good and almost everyone else is "evil," which gives Batman a reason to exist and spring into action. At least this is how I interpret all of those lifeless bodies at the end of the video. Batman will have to find Party Man and make sure he faces justice. Also, you could say that Party Man came and saw and conquered.

Prince should have worked with Al Magnoli more often. He directed this video and the amazing "Batdance" video too. These are two of Prince's best videos.

Candy Dulfer has told how this video was supposed to be/planned as a low-budget thing, like a regular performance video. Then she arrived on the day of recording, and there were all these extras and these elaborate sets and a monkey...

I mean... he directed a lot of Sign O The Times, soooo....

But yeah, he and Al seem to do good things together. He should have directed UTCM.
