Something in the Water: Manchester 2014 or First Ave 6/7/84?

NO TROLL THREADS! NO SOLICITING FOR BOOTLEGS! Discussion is fine, so long as the bootleg is not being promoted e.g. pre-release; requests/offers to share or copy, and links to download or bootleg sites are not. Posting Prince and associated artist videos from sites such as YouTube is also not allowed. Posts of this nature will be deleted and repeat offenders will be first warned, and then banned. Troll threads, fake tracklists, and attention seeking rumor threads will be also be swiftly dealt with. These rules are strictly enforced!

*************

The Night Before the Rain show at First Ave is my favorite version of Something in the Water...

But Prince and 3EG turned it out in Manchester 2014!

Whats your favorite version of Something in the Water if not either of these?

I'm biased as I was there so I'd go for Manchester 2014.

.

The mixture of his guitar work, Ida's bass and him getting the crowd to chant 'must be something in the water they drink' make it electrifying

God, that's a fucking brilliant performance. ELECTRIFYING, indeed. Gets my vote.

I Love U, But I Don't Trust U Anymore...

Manchester, 2014. The rendition he played at Shepherd's Bush in 2014 was also goose-bump inducing and truly epic (no hyperbole).

I did the PP ultimate tour and the guide Tomi played the entire song from this show in its entirety. He said it wasnt part of the official tour but he wanted to show us cause it was mesmerizing to watch.

And it absolutely was. All of us were hanging on to that performance even though it was long. We watched it in the video editing room that was near P's office. Phew

"You know, this is funky but I wish he'd play like he used to, old scragglyhead son of a...*smack* OOH!"

"Who's the foo singing will it's would"

Orange Bowl 1985.

I cried the first time I heard this rehearsal.

People who loathe Prince is obligated to listen to this piece of work. Because there is no denying, genius is too small of a word to describe that music.

Manchester. He was a MUCH better guitar player in 2014 than he was in 1984

This one is great, and the 84 Birthday Show.

I'd love the whole show to get released, it would be worthy. I was near the front and I'm sure it was Trevor Guy, Donna's husband, filming it.

Yeah, it was Trevor filming. He filmed all of those shows. Problem is, he didn't film continuously and there didn't seem to be a second or third camera. I would love the whole show, but I think the best we could hope for is stuff like his footage of Chaos & Disorder from Sheperds Bush.

I just relistened to the Orange Bowl '85 Soundcheck.

The sax is nice... but I think if I had to arrange my order it would be this:

1. '84 Birthday Show

2. Manchester 2014

3. Noon Rendezvous Rehearsal
