We Can Fuck

I get it now - Prince withheld this track because he didn't want the world to fear the unearthly power of his superhuman scream.

This is my favorite posthumous track. On the whole, i think most of what's been released since his death has been interesting, glimpses of drafts that are worth buying, but doesn't really stand on its own. This is the exception; totally powerful, hypnotic, and complete. It's hard to imagine how he went from this to the George Clinton version on GB, and thought it was an improvement.

I agree with both of you. The first time I heard it, I was driving in my car, on my way to the store. When he started that talking part towards the end....whew...I was mesmerized and had to stay in my car in the parking lot to finish the song.

The more I listened to it, I honed in on those screams. Those gave me goosebumps!

The rhythm is so sexy too! I just absolutely love it!

Not saying that it's a silver lining or anything but when I'm listening to it I'm usually thinking "There's no way we would have got to hear this while Prince was still alive"
So I LOVE it but it feels abit transgressive for me

I like every version, but the original is something else. In my view it’s not just one of the best posthumous tracks, but one of Prince’s best tracks fullstop. It exemplifies everything that I love about the young Prince – the way the musical tension and drama builds is masterful. It’s a crime that he didn’t release it at the time.

I always want this to be better than it is...a Prince song, called "We can fuck'!??? Awww yeah! It's on

But... I don't know why, maybe it's the tempo or how nothing matches that fire bass line, but it's off. Lke he had 3 different great songs in there that don't fit. I think he did use the 86 version's horns on another Parade era song.

Even by Prince's standards he was on fire that New Year's!

Incredible as it really is in his Purple Rain form, I like it better in his 1986 incarnation, that guitar almost at the end is beautiful.

Love all the versions but We Can Fuck is my favourite I think.
They need to release an Ep of all the versions.

I also adore all versions, and We Can Fuck is somewhere in the middle. You can hear it's not a finished thing (too long loops etc) but some of the elements are top.

The definitive WCF would be some hybrid that take all the best elements out of all versions, but together that won't make sense to the ear.

It's the ultimate unfinishable P-song. There is no best or worst and one version can't be better than all the others in all aspects.

This song is excellent for a young adult in the Horny discovery years cool. Really enjoyed that extra hormonal push back in the day.
