I think its cool, good to hear a different take on the song rather than a glorified karoake effort (i.e Bruno Mars at the Grammys). Its got that 'early 70's Sly Stone with a twist' sound that VH does so well. | |

I like it. It's totally left field and it sounds like he tried to channel Prince a little with the multitracked background vocals. It also has a D'Angelo vibe. Maybe D'Angelo doing prince vibe lol. | |

Regardless of what you think of this cover, Van is absolutely the real fucking deal and I consider him to be the greatest songwriter of the last 30 years. Artists shud move on from the HITS. The best covers have been deeper catalog songs that are not as identifiable to Prince’s unigue persona. | |
