Did a full version of "Funk Radio" ever leak?

NO TROLL THREADS! NO SOLICITING FOR BOOTLEGS! Discussion is fine, so long as the bootleg is not being promoted e.g. pre-release; requests/offers to share or copy, and links to download or bootleg sites are not. Posting Prince and associated artist videos from sites such as YouTube is also not allowed. Posts of this nature will be deleted and repeat offenders will be first warned, and then banned. Troll threads, fake tracklists, and attention seeking rumor threads will be also be swiftly dealt with. These rules are strictly enforced!

Funk Radio is an unreleased song, a 23-second clip of which was premiered on Love4OneAnother.com in June 1997, along with excerpts of S&M Groove (as Sado-Masochistic Groove), (EyeBlue.png Like) Funky Music and Shoo-Bed-Ooh.
While specific recording dates are not known, it is likely that basic tracking took place in early-to-mid 1997 at Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, Minnesota, during sessions for the New Power Generation's album Newpower Soul.

Always really wanted to hear this one. The clip was tantalising.

I've always wondered if 'Funk Radio' was included on the Madrid 2 Chicago album or if it was simply an NewPower Soul outtake.

I wonder if Elite traders have it. Have any Elite traders ever dropped a list of what they have?

I use to have the song. I will look for it tomorrow and let you know. It's on 1 of my mp3 disk of 200 odd so unreleased songs.

They haven't as far as I know. Some have mentioned a few things in passing on the Org but that's pretty much it. I know of a few titles/versions and album configurations that are circulating but aren't even listed on Princevault, and there are probably many more I'm not aware of. Don't ask me what they are (even by orgnote, I won't reply) because obviously the mere fact that I know about them mean that I have been entrusted with information at the condition of keeping my mouth shut (and I'm sorry about that, but that's how the game is played and I didn't make the rules). Following that logic and regarding Pvault, IDK if these omissions are intentional or if they really aren't aware of these things circulating because there are various groups of traders who have different things.

I can't address the Elite traders, that's it's own conversation and there's a lot of mythology, and BS around that.

The old collections came from having a trade relationship with someone, and the more rare it was, the more likely they would just tell you verbally. The stuff that was well circulated or had been turned into collections (most of which later became the basis of bootleg collections) had track listings, or something descriptive like "demos 1983-1985". You didn't know if the list was accurate though, or if they had a 30 minute tape of a 60 minute collection, and songs listed were cut off (or never existed). Most traders wanted more than 2 songs, you know?

So yes, some traders made elaborate lists they would send out selectively, and you would salivate over what they had. I have one huge Prince list (it's now in storage with some tapes) printed on purple paper of course, that was pages and pages of videos, and casssette collections, most listing the tracks. I don't think I ever did a trade with them, because they had everything already. You had to have a master or low circulation tape. So yeah, those lists would be almost as complete as you could get, and the only way collectors were sharing what they had. For what was circulating.

It's easier to keep lists today than it was then, but I think there's less reason to exchange lists. They generally know what's not in heavy circulation yet. We're also in the era of "I got the 72 minute version of 1999 without the bagpipes". Also today people are publishing studio session records.

Think I found the song Funk Radio
Does the lyrics go as follows

If your radio is not on the funk
The radio ain't on
If It dont make you move or rump
You might as well be gone.

i think the 2 minute version is a fanmade loop of the snippet from the official website, which was only 25 seconds or so.

It's looped, but those first 25 seconds are indeed damn funky.

Thanks for the info you could give, and understand the (unwritten) non disclosure agreement on other stuff. Cheers

interesting, and btw the 72 min version of 1999 without bagpipes is actually an edit of the 94 min full version (I know because I have it! - maybe)

I saw someone on youtube claim they had actual footage of the DNA aftershow from 93', could that be possible? I've never heard of that existing anywhere..
