PBS documentary "Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool" contains snippet from legendary New Year's Eve 1987 performance at PP https://www.pbs.org/wnet/...tn2/13497/ . I cannot access the video, but this documentary contains a small snippet from the legendary New Year's Eve 1987 performance at Paisley Park where Prince and Miles Davis shared a stage. . The clip is near the end, around the 1:43 mark. . The whole bit is about 30 seconds long; the music starts while one talking head is saying something, and in the middle another talking head comes on and says something, and at the end the music plays on for a couple of seconds while another talking head comes on. So the actual video is minimal, and while it looks fairly clean I'd surmise the source is video (and not film), and the audio sounds mono. . [Edited 3/5/20 12:28pm] © Bart Van Hemelen

it was interesting seeing that footage for the first time last week. It seems that most of the musicians on stage were in awe of what they were seeing and just let Miles go off.

Recorded, but have not watched it yet. Recently saw an interview with Bobby Z in which he stated that the band started taking direction from Miles and P was like "still my band, mofos!" Lols.

As I recall, Prince gave up for awhile and just sat down. It was kinda funny (to me)

I wondered whether this was authorized, thus "official", or not. The end credits show no authorization for the use of the footage itself, which seems to suggest, alongside the poor quality, that it comes from the widely circulating bootleg not the vault. However, the end credits also say that "the image of Prince" is used with permission from the Estate, so I guess it makes it official. Maybe my memeory is unclear, but at the the "Xenophobia" celebration in 2002, I believe this New Years 1987 performance was played as a video on a big TV, and it looked like a clean first generation recording. The portion i remember was from the end section jam with Miles Davis. My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

Since the sound was coming out of every single one of my 7.1 speakers I doubt that it was mono.
