Was anything from the Symbol album written years prior?

A common practice Prince use to employ was retrieving older material for current projects. Examples are Rave, Bang Bang & We can Funk (I think lol). Was any of the material that ended up on the Symbol album something he had from the vault @ the time?

Nope, and neither did D&P.

The oldest track on Symbol is "The Flow", written in late 1990.

While not a vault track per se, "The Max" does have shades of 1988 in its DNA.
