"So Blue" is used in HULU's "High Fidelity" show (out 14 February) https://ew.com/tv/2020/02...st-debate/
.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: I was really surprised you guys got the rights to so many great songs. Were there any songs on the soundtrack that you were especially happy ended up on the show?
.
ZOË KRAVITZ: A lot of the music that ended up on the show came from a very, very long playlist I made. As we were writing the show, I was just constantly adding to it. It kind of became the soundtrack of the show, of the character. Specifically, “I Believe When I Fall in Love,” which was the closing title song in the movie and that was a big inspiration for me. The Ann Peebles song “I Can’t Stand the Rain.” Paul McCartney and Wings with “Arrow Through Me” was on that playlist. Prince’s “So Blue.”

Reviews are generally good so I may give it a chance, but feel I should also watch the movie first as a reference point. |

The movie is a classic and the first season of the new show is excellent, with Prince references throughout, waaaaay more than just hearing So Blue in the soundtrack. We also hear Sinead's NC2U, repeatedly see a Prince poster in Zoe's office, and Prince is referenced repeatedly in the dialogue throughout the season.
But, that's to be expected since Questlove is the Executive Music Producer.
And the show is great. Highly recommended! I'll be back for season 2.

Glad to hear you also consider the movie a classic and that you say the new series is excellent. I was afraid to go watch it as I liked the original movie so much, but your comments have encouraged me to go check it out.

I wanted to NOT like the show. I'm annoyed at how many classic movies are remade as a series, and a story that fits perfectly in a couple hours is stretched out over a season or more. I hate that.
I didn't get my wish. The show is great!

Funny thing is, with both the movie and series, I have no sympathy for the main character in regards to their romantic turmoils. If I knew them in real life I'd tell them to get over it, move on, shut up, or get away from me. Both versions of the character wallow in self(ish)-pity.
And that's the main storyline, so, one might wonder why I love both versions so much.
And that would be the characters (Rob and employees at the store) love, no obsession, with music, the songs, the artists, the albums, the history, the next new thing.. ALL of it. That aspect of the characters is what draws me in with both the movie and the show. Top it off with an excellent cast (two excellent casts that is), a great soundtrack, and I can put up with all the relationship nonsense and still come away giving both high ratings.
May not be a popular opinion, but it is what it is.
