I'm a huge Bruce fan. Love the guy and I every single record he's made but uh that performance should have been rehearsed more.
I'm not saying this as a die-hard Prince fan that has tremendous bias but as a musician and music fan but his vocal timing was off - way off. Maybe he cleaned it up in prep for this release.

It's not an album, just a Spotify playlist. Springsteen Inc releases one with (seemingly pretty random) selections from his live archive series every now and then.
To be fair, they did not really have time to rehearse, given that he wanted to perform it as a tribute to P. I think Bruce knew that the way P sings it is just out of his wheelhouse - he's very honest and aware of his strengths and limitations. Instead of trying to copy P, he tried to put his own spin on it and sing it in a way his voice could handle while still delivering it with emotion. I agree that it didn't work, and I'm a huge Bruce fan too.
To my surprise I did really like the Stayin Alive cover he performed 2 years earlier, not so much because of the vocals, but because of the cool arrangement he dreamed up for it. [Edited 2/14/20 14:20pm]

Yeah I get that. Still doesn't mean it's a good performance.
Too bad it's a playlist. I think I would have liked an album of covers done by Bruce.
