Prince references on High Fidelity

There is a new Hulu series, High Fidelity starring Zoe Kravitz. The show is a remake of the movie starring John Cusack.

Anybody that's seen the movie know the story is full of references to music and recording artists. This version includes several references to Prince in the first two episodes (maybe more, that's as far as I've got).

A poster in Zoe's office, a mention of him by name, So Blue is played and Sinead's version of NC2U is played.

EDIT: I hadn't noticed before, but Questlove is credited as Executive Music Producer, so, yeah, that tracks.

Episode 5, they reference the Prince cancelling the Black Album story. They get a few details wrong, but, still cool... cool

.

Or you could have read https://prince.org/msg/7/462304 to know why "So Blue" was used.

From memory there were Prince references in the Nick Hornby novel set in London that it’s based on.

It’s a great book.

Cool. I haven't read it, but the movie and the new series are both excellent as well.

There's a "What would Prince do?" line in episode 6.

I finished the season last night, and yes there were a couple more Prince references. One was a mention of A Love Bizarre when deciding a dj setlist.

Zoe had "So Blue" on her playlist.

Questlove had nothing to do with Zoe's playlist.

But, wait!

What about the rest o' those refs?

Could it be that Questlove is Executive Music Producer of the 'High Fidelity' series?

I didn't see that "fact" in your post nor link, BVH.

Bart's rude to people all the time. People call him out for it (and some even ask for him to be banned) all the time. What's different here?

And I really wouldn't care. If both our snide comments are snipped and the on-topic discussion remains, then, that's fine.

Thing is, he's right, I forgot to check before starting the topic. I know better. But as we all know, rather than behave cordially, he has to be rude about it. It's just his nature I guess. If he had been polite, I would have moved my comments to his thread and asked the mods to close this one. But, that's not what happened, so... wink

Thanks for the warning but I don't object to the mods doing their thing if they think it's necessary.

I also don't really have a problem with bart. I'd rather he continue bringing excellent info to the org even if he doesn't know how to communicate with people. I'll call him out for it or push back, but, I'm used to it. lol

Back on topic, the whole season is loaded with Prince references, and it's a great show. I honestly didn't want to like it because I'm tired of great movies being turned into series and stretching a story that fits perfectly in a couple of hours out over a season or more. I'm happy to say that I didn't get my way, the show was great and fans of the movie should watch it. Looking forward to season 2.
