It is amazing how many different things people can interpret into seemingly straightforward statements. Not to say that ANYONE is wrong. These bars being debated were completely straightforward to me. Oh well. Just goes to show how easy miscommunication is...

Straightforward to say what? I mean, your take?

In each instance (and overall) he's saying that he's the one that will treat "his woman" like a queen. He'll buy her whatever she wants and he'll do everything she wants that pleases her. Pretty straightforward bragadocious r&b lyrics IMHO... in the vein of Babyface (Soon As I Come Home From Work)...

I agree...I never saw anything but a straightforward love song. If you're looking for the guy to treat you wrong, I ain't the one. If you're looking for the man to treat you right, I'm the one.

For me, the bragadocious lyrics make it more about his status..."the biggest pool" the most money, the biggest...

Same here.

Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end nod

Well, it's one of the songs I used to woo my wife waaaaaay back when we first met. We've been together over 21 years so I'm gonna go with the positive, straight-forward message. biggrin heart

No mixed message, he was a hoebag Narc who would tell women whatever he thought they wanted to hear (or would sell records and himself) in the moment to suit his need$$$.

@KaliD, I’d still like to know who you are, a new poster, coming here and stirring up trouble and making claims that Prince was the awful things you said. What is your personal beef with him?
