Love Symbol: "Fake" early version

Came across the Pure Funk release of the original version of Love Symbol, based on an untracked CD bootleg of it. The liner notes mention a version that was previously ciculating with fans, which had the final album mixes of My Name Is Prince and The Scarifice of Victor rather than AND I Wanna Melt With U incorrectly added in. Does anyone know the origin of that one?

Not familiar with Pure Funk, but back in the day a tape circulated with a slightly longer version of the prince album. Basically, longer (or better said, un-edited) segues all over it. "The Sacrifice Of Victor was a like 1 miinute longer, but if I remember well all the other tracks were the same lenght and mix as on the officially released version. Funny thing, with all the un-edited segues, the whole thing run slightly over 80 minutes, making it impossible to fit on a single CD back in the early 90's.

Originally the album was intended to have much more segues than what was in the final product. It was supposed to tell a story of sorts. Hence the album was referred to as an opera. I'm only assuming the storyline is what was presented in the movie.

I always thought this was legit. Sounds great throughout. My understanding is that Eye Wanna Melt was going to be a bonus track on the cassette. Which would accommodate the over 80 minute issue.

This was at one point, another threadf but the mods told me to move it here:

A bit of confusion: VaultCurator mentioned in his "albums that have leaked in eariler sequences" that the two sources he came across used different volume settings for the songs and the segues seprately. This might or might not have been Prince's intention.

Here are the two most common bootlegged configs:

Undated config (not documented on PrinceVault, was originally released (untracked) in 1993 by The Master Sound and later reissued by Pure Funk sometime in the 2010s (accurately tracked) to ensure the Summer 1992 config is no longer the common version):

Segue

My Name Is Prince

Sexy M.F.

Segue

Love 2 The 9's

The Morning Papers

The Max

Segue

Blue Light

Segue

Sweet Baby

Segue

The Continental

Damm U

Arrogance

The Flow

Segue

7

Segue

And God Created Women

3 Chains O' Gold

Segue

The Scarifice Of Victor (Full-Length)

Summer 1992 config (Right piror to Prince's decision to take away most of the segues):

Segue

My Name Is Prince

Sexy M.F.

Segue

Love 2 The 9's

The Morning Papers

The Max

Segue

Blue Light

Eye Wanna Melt With U

Sweet Baby

Segue

The Continental

Damm U

Arrogance

The Flow

Segue

7

Segue

And God Created Women

3 Chains O' Gold

Segue (New segue where Prince calls Vanessa and pretends to be 320-year old Victor. Some bootlegs will feature the original/shorter segue intended for this slot instead)

The Scarifice Of Victor
