Are Exodus, Kamasutra and NPS part of the Sony reissues? It would be a shame if they weren't, especially for Kamasutra. These albums are not part of the compilation Anthology 95-2010. . I think they could do a Crystal Ball reissue with CB+ The Truth+ Kamasutra. |

I don't think "New Power Generation" and "NPG Orchestra" releases were included with the deal? |

And what evidence do you have of that?
Anything after 1993 is part of the Sony part, before 1993 is Warner. New Power Generation albums are still Prince albums, for all intensive purposes, so to think they stand out on their own under yet another controlling interest is short-sighted. Kamasutra was part of a larger release that is controlled by Sony, so there's no reason they couldn't reissue it. Will they? That's another show.
It would be an interesting move, and one that is likely with the reissue campaign which will continue until everything is covered, to issue the three NPG albums at the same time like they have others. They're all hard to find compared to other music around the same time. People need to hear Exodus.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

The press release detailed what albums were included in the Sony deal. It's not anything after 1993.
35 albums total
of which 12 of those are WB albums which will revert to Sony in 2021
Plus "Additional album titles from the 2014-2015 era will also be distributed with worldwide rights under the deal in the future. The deal also includes rights to other previously released singles, B-sides, remixes, non-album tracks, live recordings and music videos recorded before 1995."

Indeed, and absolutely zero mention of the numerous side projects owned by the Estate (which include a number of Paisley Park albums as well as post WB side-projects). So while it's not impossible that the deal will one day be extended to these, there is no reason to believe that it has. Additional evidence is the fact that Newpower Soul, Exodus and Kamasutra are all on Tidal, but only carry the (p) indicia "NPG Records", as opposed to "NPG Records, manufactured and distributed by Legacy Recordings". |

Yep, and it's telling as well that none of the NPG side-project albums were added to Spotify at the same time as the main Prince 1995-2010 discography was in 2018, after that Sony deal was announced... and nor have they been, since.
I'm guessing Sony Legacy will have their hands full with reissuing the main discography for a while, but that the NPG 'solo' albums could be subject to another deal at some point down the line.
It doesn't look like The Versace Experience (for example) was one of the projects covered in the originally announced 2018 deal, so maybe there was some kind of mini-deal agreed for that one, and similar could happen at some point for the NPG stuff. |

.
According to The Hollywood Reporter article, "The [Sony] deal also includes rights to other previously released singles, B-sides, remixes, non-album tracks, live recordings and music videos recorded before 1995."
.
I wonder if Versace would be considered as a collection of tracks rather than a studio album proper and so fallen under this section?

you mean for all intents and purposes right?
I totally agree tho...Exodus is a must-have and folks MUST hear Exodus... but I wonder if they gon release the Golddigger NPG album in it´s edited form or if their gon release the orginal cut butt I bet Paul McCartney or whoever owns the Beatles songs right now would not let that happen right?
Also...that Crystal Balls set was kinda under the radar....not really a legit WB release and not really any real lable really..sort of a legit bootleg as it was even called officially back in the day. are those low budget under the radar releases really covered by the Sony deal ? Kinda like a legal gray area aint it? YES ! I think there was a problem due to one song containing a sample of a Beatles song.

YES ! I think there was a problem due to one song containing a sample of a Beatles song. It was not a sample, hardly an interpolation. It would be easy to clear these rights issues if necessary. |

so...do you think re-releasing the original album would make the first pressing lose its value? prices on ebay are outrageous, and many are even fakes I've dated outside of my race and I discovered that Good Pussy is Good Pussy and Good Booty is Good Booty regardless of ethnicity...I don't have a Fetish for only Big White Tits, Big White Butts or Phat White Pussy.(chancellor) wise man ! |

That IDK because I'm not in the collector's market. Check how much the original Rave In2 sells by comparison to what it used to sell, it should give u a good clue |

I'm not big on collectibles either, the more people who get to hear the music the better. I sold my original In2 CD for £100 before the reissues came out. As long as I have the album I'm happy, not fussed about it being a limited or original edition. |

It s strange the press release talks about b sides etc. Before 1995.. . But what about after 1994? Why Sony don't have rights to the b- sides, remixes, etc. Of the albums they are re releasing now? To be clear : why can't they add bonus tracks to Musicology like Magnificent and Dear Mister Man (live) that were B-sides ? |

Can we just talk about Tidal for a moment? They're still up like they were on Prince's birthday in 2016. Also 1-800-New-Funk might be still up like that |
