Anyone who was old enough to be in a club in 1984 and saw a crowd react to Erotic City knows this is the correct answer.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I'll cheat and say the Controversy-Mutiny medley from the Cobo show. I think that was the single funkiest moment of his career. The groove is just ridiculous, the band is the tightest it ever was and he just absolutely nails the organ solo. Knocks it out of the park. The funk is so overwhelming can barely contain himself. Closest he ever came to JB imo.

Loving the love for shockadelica though.

All of the previous songs mentioned are worthy. The one I am going to throw out there is

-Rock Hard In A Funky Place-

"Hyperactive when I was small, Hyperactive now I'm grown, Hyperactive 'till I'm dead and gone"
__ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ ___

"Midnight is where the day begins"

Yeah, if live tracks are included, I would go with something from the European Welcome To Tour. Some funky shit went down. Funkier than anything he laid down on rekkid.

Totally agree - love the way he dances to it too - one of my all-time favourite live concert segment.
