I thought it was great, but I will say it again, just like with the battle of the Irresistible Bitches, I think it is very hard for folks to come to terms with a new version after hearing the original for decades. Quality doesn't even come into play, it is just the knee jerk reaction of some new version insulting the older one.

They are both enjoyable to me, and it was great to see how Prince approached it 18 years later.

Sheila's not on the remake at all. That's him playing percussion pads the same way he did during the RAVE concert.

It could also just objectively be bad. I love tons of "bad" Prince songs too. They aren't all winners.
