So many key moments during this public performance. A great example of Prince!

One of my favorite Prince tv performances. Daddy Pop works brilliaintly on this show. The spin on the piano. Opening up the piano and the purple ballloons fly up. The slide towards the audience. Why Aresenio Hall was fire back in the day. Some amazing guests and live performances.

. I think they meant Arsenio's. I’ve been informed that my opinion is worth less than those expressed by others here.

When he held his index finger up, looking directly into the camera, during a breakdown in Purple Rain, as if to say “wait for it!” And his guitar solo at the end of Cream - should’ve been on the studio version. Also him standing on the piano singing part of the unreleased edit of Daddy Pop - “What’s my name what’s my name?!?” Easily my favorite tv appearance of his entire career. Another thing of note for me is at the end as the credits start rolling. I've always been curious if Tony starts, what sounds like, Call The Law with more lyrics or if it's a different unreleased track. . He says something like 'let me take you to the hood if I could' and that line also features briefly in a snippet on the D&P video collection

Yes but it's unusual. After 'let me dive straight in, where do I begin' he doesn't go into the first chorus he carries on with more lyrics 'let me take you to the hood if I could...' and then it fades out without reaching the chorus. . So they were either ad-libbed lyrics, but seem unlikely as Damon mimes along to some of them, or they are original lyrics and were cut out from future live performances (as I've never heard them in any other) and maybe the released studio version too. . Anyway, it's Christmas Eve and I've a 100 presents to wrap for my daughters but I'm discussing a 28 year old TV show performance of a Prince b-side on the Internet with strangers...

I had a metal head/punk buddy of mine who was a (very good) drummer that really didn't dig Prince but he told me after he saw this performance that "dude has it going on". I think it came down to style and personal preference for him but it was satisfying to at least see game recognizing game.
