Should the Black album and lovesexy have been a double album?lu I was reading the Possessed book the other day, and the author was asking the question as to whether the Black album or Lovesexy would have been the more successful release. Then I had a thought!
Why the hell didn't Prince release it as a double vinyl and Double CD! Warner would not have had to destroy hundreds of thousands of Black discs, and Prince could have given us the whole message, something he was happy to do in the concert. A Gatefold sleeve vinyl, pure black on the front, re-born when you turn over. Hell, even the record would not have band the cover, because the naked Prince is on the inside or back! Its a win win win! What do you think? .

He should have made a single album out of the 2 of them; with 5 songs from each. ********************************************

Not releasing the Black album was one of the best things he ever did. It opened up his audience to the fact there were complete albums and tons of songs floating around on the underground. It made his fans network to find them and become more addicted to his music.

I think it was because if he got run over by a bus, he assumed he would be remembered for his last work. He didn't want the songs on the black album to be his last work. I suppose the dark tone would have been somewhat diluted when mixed with the Lovesexy tracks so who knows, would WB have authorised another 2 disc set? It were proper bo I tell the!! Bo Selecta!

Although I like the two albums separate, the idea of a double album is VERY intriguing. It could have been a cool concept album about a man struggling with sex and salvation. That's pretty much what the whole 'Lovesexy' tour was all about anyway.
But,what do you think he could have titled this double album? "The Spooky Electric Saga"? "Heaven And Hell" ?

I like the idea playing 'Bob George' and 'Anna Stesia' back-to-back. The perfect counterparts to each other.
Well, the album could have titled "Hundalasiliah". @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

I know 'Glam Slam' is irritating, but he was writing few enough pop gems back then, to leave that off. ********************************************

this only applies to the '94 release, not to the originally slated '87 or '88 release.
