One thing the OP's selections have is some sort of 1-4-5 progression, which is an essential building block of the rockabilly style. Some of the other songs mentioned here don't have this progression. But 'Broken' definitely does. So does "Ronnie, Talk to Russia" although it's not really arranged in the rockabilly style. "U Got the Look" also employs a variation of this 1-4-5 progression. It obviously does not sound 'rockabilly' in the slightest -- but it could easily be rearranged to a rockabilly style. Same with "Kiss."
That said, it's amazing how few of his songs employ this progression, but how good he was when he did use it. | |
