Why not a WNPG online radio station?

Fans always drift to the idea of a Tidal/Spotify-eqsue service for Prince's music but why not an online radio station?

.

Imagine a 24/7 stream playing his songs, rarities, live cuts, associated artists, old NPG Ahdio Shows, interviews, audio from past Celebrations, mix sets from Paisley Park After Dark, etc. Or even using the platform to give a voice to new artists outside of the Clear Channel cartel?
.
Since it would be live and not CD quality, they could sprinkle unreleased stuff throughout without stepping on the toes of any future vault release. Picture listening to the stream just jamming and all of the sudden the studio version of Turn Me Loose starts playing or the acoustic version of Last December from A Celebration 2000 or Housequake from Montreux 2013 Show 3 or Billy Jack Bitch from Glam Slam Miami 1995. There's all sorts of ways they could keep it exciting and use it as a promotional platform for future releases.

.

Get 40,000 fans to subscribe at $4 a month and that's $160,000 a month coming in before expenses.

It's been tried before with Sirius/XM Radio. I forget the exact reason they gave for it not working out; I seem to remember something about the rights to the music being a pain to sort out? I could be wrong.

I do agree, though: a radio station with all the released songs, associated artist tracks, live tracks, interviews, and outtakes would be amazing! I hope the Estate has a plan to make it happen.

The "why not" is because Spotify/Tidal give you customization and control.

Well, yeah, but Prince fans are pretty notorious for their "what else do you got?" mentality. If they had their way, the entire vault would be dumped on the digital curb tomorrow so they could pay for a month, rip everything and never give it a second listen. lol
