Scene from PR where Princey is tossing up fathers music in air and flips out crying then smashes stuff in the room, glass shattering, pulling over shelves etc... It’s reflective of that pain and anger we all have sometimes where we need to unleash it... let that stuff out. Dig? It is in that pain that’s our saving grace, maturity, etc.
I´ve always wondered about the jars. What is in those jars ? Homemade tomato sauce ? Jam ? Homemade pickles ? I doubt it´s tomato sauce because Minnesota´s climate is probably too cold to grow tomatoes but it could be jam. Raspberry jam? Strawberry ? Homemade kimchi? But folks didn´t really know kimchi in the mid 80s, did they?
I guess we´ll never know. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?" |

You know Mrs. Francis L. wasn't puttin' up preserves. And where did the Kid get a hockey stick to smash all that shit up?
its Minnesota...Hockey is a major sport up here... even for some of us black people.
.
My brother and I used to play one one one hockey in our basement. He was bigger than me and loved to check me into the cinder block walls. Fucker!
.
We also used to have 4-on-4 hockey matches in the alleyway behind our houses. All of us had our own sticks. All of us black... and not in Minnesota. |

You trying to tell me the Kid was a hockey player? GTFOOHWTBS
I live in Wisconsin. I grew up around hockey players - BEFORE the days of face masks and mouth guards. I was a hockey cheerleader in high school.
The Kid wasn't a hockey player.
[Edited 12/6/19 7:51am] We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves. |

never understood,

why people feel the urge
to react distructive or violent
-
that's not how I get angry
and demolish stuff
isn't that very childish to do so ?
-
if you don't know how to deal with anger
you got a problem when smashing things up.
-
I don't think I've ever expressed those urges like that. In certain situations the levels would be so high in my body made me either go to sleep or I need to do push ups
.
But I suspect in that household, there are a lot of unexpressed emotions that would cause someone to react like that. It's probably why people fight at funerals. |

And there were a sweet set of skates hanging at the end of the basement hallway. |

I always thought it was interesting that, apparently, his Mom, who was portrayed as something of a party girl, managed to find the time to do all that canning and preserving. I mean there was shelf after shelf of those jars. And why did they do a chalk outline of someone who was still living? That was Big Momma’s house before Francis L inherited it? She filled the jars. And the chalk line is because the film was going to be a murder/suicide. It was left in for a surprise, I think, to a less dark ending. |

[Edited 12/6/19 7:51am] if youre so troubled by the imagery of Prince playing hockey, take it up with Al Magnoli or Prince, no one said he was Jarome Iginla, but he played all sports with his friends and the idea that he had a couple items in the movie (ice skates and a hockey stick) that are used to play hockey is not far fetched at all... i had hockey sticks, ice skates, street hockey goalie pads, and pucks and balls too .. they mostly collected dust in my closet but i had them shits... |
