Lets talk about Rearrange

So after reading all the great reviews on this forum there are a lot of us who are blown away by this song. Some for the funk others for the guitar riffs and others for the lyrics. I seriously can't get enough of this song. What makes it even more special is that I've never heard this song before as a collector of his unreleased material in the past and it was the most pleasant surprise from the vault for me.

My kids even like it and they are still not quite the fans of his deeper tracks...I'm working on that. wink

My daughter even said it kind of sounds like a Bruno Mars song and she referenced Uptown Funk which hmm not sure if I agree but I guess it has that same vibe.

So I'd love to get some of your thoughts on this song. Is it your fav? Why or why not? Do you think this would have been a hit if released? Anyone ever heard this song before?

it's nothing more than an early Lady Cab Driver. What's the fuzz?

It's just weird enough that in the 80s, it could have been a moderate hit. Songs like "Safety Dance," and "West End Girls" (just as two examples) were chant-y/sing-tallk songs and were quite popular. "Rearrange" could've sustained a bit. It's very similar, to me, as "Irresistible Bitch" in it's vocal approach. It was at least strong enough to be a Time song. (Not sure if it was ever intended as such.) It certain has the same nuaces we heard on What Time Is It?

I'm not sure it's a standout track, but it's a middle-stronger song on the set. You can hear his exuberance in it, which is great.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

Great song, but not that catchy. Couldn't see it being a hit.
