Where are the aftershows? (I hope the Estate knows we would LOVE to add them to our collection!) I know there is a lot of full concert footage around, but where are some of these famous aftershows?
I find it hard to believe that quite a few of them didn't get taped. One that springs to mind is the "One Nite Alone - It Ain't Ova" aftershow.
There is no doubt in my mind that Prince and the team video'd that one - among others.
Does the estate think there isn't a market for the aftershows?
(As an aside, I really find it difficult to digest that Prince was so tech forward sometimes, but seemingly so nonchalant about preservation. It would seem to me he would have been one of the first to start digitizing for preservation sake, considering the way he jumped on the internet.) |

we're still in the early 80s with the releases from the estate.
regular aftershows wasn't a thing until the late mid 80s, so that's the reason.

Princevault says that the It ain't ova cd was compiled from 3 different aftershows, so all 3 would have to have been taped to release that 'show'.

Give me an 88 aftershow please
Since we already have "Small Club" in amazing quality, I'd much prefer an aftershow from '87. |

Definitely "Small Cbub" on video, especially since there's photographic evidence of it being professionally filmed in good quality. |

I'll settle for The official shows being released first! Parade/Lovesexy/Nude/Diamonds and Pearls/ Symbol tours 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment |

It wasn't, Prince's film crew that was documenting the tour was in Amsterdam during the aftershow at 't Paard van Troje and the only camera rolling that night was a venue camera pointing at the stage and the tape was eventually taped over but it it said only two copies exist. Teh Dutch filmcrew that was there earlier in the evening for some nightlife documentary had to leave or if they wanted to stay they had to stash the cameras.

[Edited 12/5/19 2:22am] First time I hear this story. So the tape was used again (which seems hard to believe) but before that happened 2 copies were made? So if this is true where are these? Who is sitting on this treasure? |

Noty hard to believe at all becuase this is pretty standard practice for small venues as 't Paard used to be. When I worked at a small poppodium in Tilburg 25 years ago we did the same, we taped shows of mostly local and dutch small bands and then the next day we copied the shows and gave them to the band that played and reused the tape becuase those tapes were of much higher quality so could be reused for years.
One copy was last reported to be collecting dust in some attic and was later used to compile the best version with the other copy and those RAW files were later transferred over the years to VCD/DVD/MKV? and the person posted this info on a.m.p back in the day and showed samples to a couple of hardcore traders years ago who were on HouseQuake/MoQuake who also reported on it which annoyed the person who has it Some say the tapes were destroyed after the transfer so those RAW files would be great to have.
It would be great if The Estate would contact all these venues and people who have tapes like these to collect them and release them. |

They could try to contact the venues and ask if they recorded some show he did whenever when they don't have it in the vault or maybe know who might have a copy if the venue don't have it themselves.
