And the fact that we literally watched it grow out over the years once he stopped getting a straight perm on his hair. Like he's going to buy progressive-length wigs to mimic growth???
"Say Earl, lemme get a 90 day fallen out perm after 3 years growth piece, u dig?" "Of course, Prince. Anythang."
You need to stop! hahahahahahahaha The best part of that is anyone who reads it can hear it in their head.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

The quality of this DVD is absolutely terrible. The estate should be ashamed for releasing such garbage. I highly doubt Prince would be happy about this being released with such poor audio and video. Very disappointing. I have other bootlegs that are much better quality. [Edited 1/1/20 9:31am]

Here's one guy's perspective... This video is many things. But chiefly, it is a historical document.
It's 1982. This was the technology available to Prince in that venue at that time. Plus, it was 1982. Thus, lots of smoke and neon and some harsh lighting effects. And, it was 1982. At that time, Prince was into the neo-Blade-Runner-ish-ness of it all.
Did I mention that it was 1982? It’s not supposed to look like 2019.
Do all of the quality issues cited here exist? Sure. But who cares? Here’s how to fix them: Put this video on your largest available screen. Then, send the audio through your good speakers or headphones. Finally, turn the volume up. See? Fixed!
This is a document of a moment. And that moment was 1982.
I appreciate this moment. Man, was that good. “Head” as the closer was unexpected #FIRE!
The above is pretty stupid.
There is no reason why the GOAT cannot have his concerts restored and presented properly.
Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and many other artists have near perfect videos from way before 1982.
Sorry we have had this happen twice now. First that low quality dvd in the purple rain deluxe now a crap 1999 dvd
Try watching it on a projector with a 100 inch screen...i have better bollywood bootlegs than these dvds...
Real dissapointment and disgrace to be honest.
It's not "stupid", actually. You can't neccessarily say that this particular show wasn't restored to its full intergrity, because it was shot from arena videocameras direct-to-tape. There were many concerts, before and after this one that WILL look and sound better, depending on several factors, film being a crucial one. If the direct source of the tape isn't in great condition, there's only so much restoration that can improve it. Shows shot on 16-35mm film will look a lot better than taped shows on today's tech. |

I dont see the point of your reply.
Are you saying that the Estate has access to the Vaults and is deliberatly choosing the worst quality concerts and releasing them?

I’m saying that every show for a particular tour wasn’t filmed with consumers in mind. This show is nowhere near the worst in quality for the 1999 tour. For now, this just might be the only full representation of his live set from that era with multiple angles and of reasonable video quality. If there was a 1999 show actually shot on film (like the Controversy show earlier that year), that would’ve been the obvious pick for this set. |
