Well, he wore draggy makeup in that one Lovesexy era promo shot and simulated being topped by one of the Game Boyz in '92 or so. I reckon there was very little. Perhaps he would never wear a dress. |

And the love 4 one another Special, he is definitely wearing a gown of some kind when performing days of wild. "New Power slide...." |

It wasn't a gown. Caftans for men were very popular in the 70s. Longer tunics were just as popular. Barbarella wore one at times, too. It's like saying he wore a mini dress over pants during the Emancipation special. It was just a longer jumper. He was definitely blurring gender lines, though.
That's not to say he was really make-up heavy in the mid 90s. Lovesexy was a heavy makeup time, too. I never liked it that much in 1988. He seemed to go heavier w/ eye makeup in the 90s (with those high-waist pants and short cropped jackets).
In the end, the fancy lesbian did whatever he wanted. And we loved him for it.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

I mean... I know what a caftan is, and I'm old enough to remember all the adult men wearing them at parties.

Some say you still go to parties where men wear caftans. |

BTW: how many countries with these caftan-wearing people did you visit?

I think you're replying to the wrong person. It is Trivial Pursuit who is into the caftan gang. Not I. |

Funny how times change people's perception of something as simple as a piece of clothing. Fast forwarding through centuries of use in other cultures, Richie Havens was considered hippy looking @ woodstock in his kaftan. And thank god Black Moses didn't have to deal with the internet in '71 . In fact, quite the opposite was being written about Isaac Hayes during that time...copy/paste from his wiki page: Black men could finally stand up and be men because here's Black Moses; he's the epitome of black masculinity. Chains that once represented bondage and slavery now can be a sign of power and strength and sexuality and virility. |

Ditto Isaac Hayes. But the OP already posted this is nothing but a bait thread anyway.

I Googled both.
A caftan is an article of clothing, while tell me what you see is a Beatles song.
How'd I do? |

The photoshopped photo where they put his head on a man with hairy legs in a dress and heels. Prince would not dress like that.
. I've actually enjoyed his expression during the Gold Experience. Not the music so much.
And I actually didn't like the more 'simpler/less outlandished' looks of the 2002-2008 period as much

Some of those Gold Era long things were kinda dresses. Like the Mimi 94 first outfit or the MTV Endorphine machine. |
