What’s your favorite live version of Stratus (other than Montreux)

Of course the 2009 Montreux version of Stratus/All Shook up is one of the best performances of that song (and one of Prince's best live performances period IMO). But what is another live version you like? I'm kind of partial to the 2013 Dakota Jazz Club performance, I think it was the only time Prince played guitar during that show. And Andre Gouché on bass really made the song pop. Plus the drummer he was trying out during those shows (Ronald Bruner Jr.) was really good.

House of Blues 2012 - because I was there and he played the bass.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I applaud an actual music question, but anytime he played Bass on it was my favorite. Not sure why he loved this so much though. I always thought it slowed the flow.

Sorry to say so, as i usually like Prince's covers of other's songs. But with Stratus, no version ever came close to the original by Billy Cobham, which doesn's meander like Prince's versions, but is sharp, crisp, on point. Even hearing Prince playing Stratus live in concert, I was underwhelmed.

That's interesting because I don't like the original at all. lol

I'd say Montreux '76 with George Duke. I've never liked any Prince version I've heard, live or otherwise. https://www.youtube.com/w..._jzfx6Rs5Q
